This is some news for men...Haha my hubby was grinning like a hyena when he read this piece of news...

Playboy magazine is launching in the Philippines next month and will be targeting mature men who like well-written articles and tasteful photographs of semi-nude women.
"Maxim and FHM are called laddy magazines. We can be called a Dad magazine," Beting Laygo Dolor, Playboy Philippines editor said.
Playboy Philippines will be targeted to a more mature market, Filipino men, 30 and above and there will be no full frontal nudity.
Mens' magazines with risque photos are already sold in the Philippines, which despite being a largely Catholic country has a macho culture that. Although rural areas are more conservative, Manila and other large cities have a relaxed attitude to sex.

The said country editor mentioned that the religion's values had influenced the decision not to go for a raunchier lo for the magazine.
Founded in 1953, Playboy has some 20 local editions around the world that cater to local taste rather than simply exporting and translating its U.S. content.
The magazine will be sold across the Philippines at a cost of 199 pesos ($4.76) and 70 percent of the content will be local.
Playboy's first edition in Indonesia in 2006 sparked protests although it had no nudity and less flesh visible in the issue than many other magazines on sale in the world's most populous Muslim country. Its editor was cleared of distributing indecent pictures last year.
Dolor said he didn't expect any uproar when his magazine hits the news stands on April 3.

I rarely put on make-up when going out though on special occasion I do primp up a bit. Make-up is an essential part of what makes us feel good and attractive. Yet, a little bit of lipstick or a lip gloss and some blush is all that is needed before we go out the door. If you’re going out in the evening or have a special even planned, however, you may want to give yourself the full treatment. If that’s the case, here are quick look good tips for moms.
Before you get started applying the makeup, treat yourself to a dry skin brushing. After you take a shower, wash and blow dry your hair; add some olive oil as a conditioner to enhance its richness and sheen. Give yourself a manicure/pedicure to relax and soothe. Now you are ready to apply the makeup.
* Use a concealer to hide blemishes or circles under the eyes.
* Apply foundation which matches your skin tone. Use powder to keep both the foundation and concealer in tact.
* Use a pencil to floor in your eyebrows, if applicable. If it’s not necessary, ensure your eyebrows are well-defined by plucking excessive hair.
* Next, apply eyeliner with either a pencil or brush.
* Use mascara on upper and lower lashes. Choose a color which compliments your skin tone.
* Apply blush to your cheeks.
* Choose a lipstick color suitable to your skin tone and your outfit; and use a lip liner to accent.
Tell the truth; don’t you feel like a million bucks? Along with the special outfit you bought for the special occasion, you look and feel terrific, right? Even though you always look your best, special occasions call for a little extra time to take care of you. When you look good, you feel good. Enjoy yourself, you deserve it!

10 Tips to Successful Homeschooling

My husband and I have decided to homeschool our 5-year old daughter this summer, instead of enrolling her in a play-school. I think it would be a great for us to spend sometime together and besides, I love teaching her. I would just need to go around my schedules and decide on a few hours daily tutoring.

Sherri L. Chekal art director at Westvon Publishing. She is the editor of the popular http://www.TheParentTeacher.com and the http://www.TheHomeschoolShop.com websites, wrote an article on some tips on successful homeschooling.

1. Have fun. Attitude is everything with home learning. Enjoy learning and your kids will enjoy it. I've noticed if you display a dislike towards an activity, children would most likely be grumpy towards it too.

2. Limit interruptions. Keep your children's learning time sacred and your family will benefit from this. We usually have our schooling-time after lunch since at around this time, I am done with all my chores and most usually there are no interruptions.

3. Dedicate your time to their learning. Keep your focus on them, it is a priority that rewards!
Previously when I tutored my child, I would stop and do something, cook or do some errands and my child loses her momentum and interest so we've decided to schedule it in a way that I am focused on the task of teaching so my kid can focus on her task of learning.

4. Keep it simple. Be careful not to fall into the "Curriculum of the Month" club. Your children will quickly learn that all it takes in a bit of whining and they'll have a new book, workbook or system in no time. Also, simplify your life. Too many commitments and outside activities and responsibilities can really wreck havoc with your schedule. Try to keep your life simple and you will be rewarded.

5. Have FAITH! In yourself, your kids and in God. If you are doing the best you can, you will be rewarded. Provide them with your time and enthusiasm, good basic materials and faith and you will do as well if not better than that poor teacher can. You have the best interest of your children in your heart. Let it work for them.

6. When in doubt READ! Reading is the best way for your kids to learn and retain. Gather up the brood and snuggle on the couch with a good classic. Reading aloud is a wonderful activity for your family. Even experienced readers will love to hear a story aloud, especially when they don't have to sound out each word and get through those they may not know. There is a rhyme and rhythm to books read aloud that delights even little ones.

7. Surround yourself with home school mentors. Even a good home education magazine will help you in your quest. Read home education books when you are in need of a little boost.
8. Use the Library!

9. Take frequent break days. The children will be pleased and you will get a chance to regroup. Just make sure they aren't every other day!

10. Watch for outside time stealers! Field trips and social outings and classes for this and that are important, just make sure you are not overdoing it. Too many errands and outings can kill a day's learning and overwhelm your schedule.

Need flowers? If you're having a party, a wedding, if you want to perk up your house with some flower arrangements or if you simply want to feast your eyes with beautiful blooms, then head over to Dangwa Flower Market! Best to go there at night since flower supplies are arriving from the farms from 9pm onwards. You'll get the freshest flowers and the best buys in terms of prices.

We regularly head over to Dangwa since my cousins just love making flower arrangements for weddings and other occasions. Recently, we had been preparing for Holy Week Procession and we had to decorate our family's "poon" so we went over to Dangwa to get flowers.

Going over there is just worth it! Imagine we bought 5 bunches of pink medium anthurium for a measly P100! That's about 60 pcs.. Sorry about the pics, its kinda blurry I just took them with m pencam.

Pre-arranged floral bouquets like this goes for P180 to P250. (you can still make "tawad")

Stargazers..my favorite bloom..

Roses not yet packed or sorted out are cheaper. (stores located near Andalucia St. part). You can get long stemmed ones at only P80 per dozen.

If you don't want the hassle of making the arrangements yourself, you can have them arrange it for you at minimal costs . I was even amused that most of the florists here are really "macho" guys and they make really pretty flower arrangements!

How to get there? Take jeepneys with DIMASALANG signs. Landmark? When you get a few meters from the corner of Laong Laan and A.H. Lacson and you see a street brimming with flowers and leaves, then get down and start feasting your eyes!

Loosing weight and dieting is a big challenge to a lot of people ( including me!). To be successful in it requires a lot of persistence, consistence, patience and large amounts of hard work. Most Women know that nothing kills a good complexion like a bad night's slumber; there's a reason, after all, that it's called beauty sleep. If that's not motivation enough to keep up with your nightly shut-eye, here's another: doctors are learning that poor sleep habits may make women more vulnerable than men to heart disease and diabetes.

Are men and women so different physiologically that they react differently to troubled sleep patterns? Or are men protected somehow from the health effects of poor sleep?

To find out, Dr. Edward Suarez at Duke University gathered 210 healthy men and women and asked them detailed questions about their sleep habits.

What Suarez uncovered was a consistent association between poor sleep and higher levels of the risk factors for heart disease and diabetes--but only among the women. Men who had trouble falling asleep or reported interrupted sleep did not show higher levels of the risk factors and therefore had reduced chances of developing the illnesses. "I kept trying to disprove the findings," Suarez says. "I put in age, but age did not do anything to destroy the results. I put in race because blacks often report worse sleep than whites, but nothing happened." Smoking and, for women, menstrual status did not eliminate the gender gap either.

The results, published in the journal Brain, Behavior and Immunity, are among the first to link poor sleep to such a wide array of physiological changes. While he cannot fully explain why men and women are affected differently, Suarez believes that testosterone could play a role. In his study, men reporting the most difficulty sleeping also had the highest levels of testosterone, which is known to reduce levels of heart-damaging inflammatory proteins. So, he speculates, while testosterone may trigger sleep problems, it may also blunt some of the physiological changes that can raise the risk of heart disease and diabetes.

I was a bit alarmed when I read this news. A lot of people are into social networking sites and at times we do upload really private photos thinking that since we have chosen private settings, well it would remain private.

A security lapse made it possible for unwelcome strangers to peruse personal photos posted on Facebook Inc.'s popular online hangout, circumventing a recent upgrade to the Web site's privacy controls. The Associated Press verified the loophole Monday after receiving a tip from a Byron Ng, a Vancouver, Canada computer technician.
Ng began looking for security weaknesses last week after Facebook unveiled more ways for 67 million members to restrict access to their personal profiles.
But the added protections were not enough to prevent Ng from pulling up the most recent pictures posted by Facebook members and their friends, even if the privacy settings were set to restrict the audience to a select few.
After being alerted Monday afternoon, Facebook spokeswoman Brandee Barker said the Palo Alto-based company fixed the bug within an hour.

Before the fix, Ng's computer-coding trick enabled him to find private pictures of Paris Hilton at the Emmy awards and of her brother Barron Nicholas Hilton drinking a beer with friends and photos of many other people who had not granted access to Ng.
Using Ng's template, an AP reporter was able to look up random people on Facebook and see the most recent pictures posted on their personal profiles even if the photos were supposed to be invisible to strangers.

This should again be a reminder of the dangers of posting sensitive or potentially embarrassing or compromising photos and even personal information online even if the site promises to guard our privacy. And besides I think hackers are now getting better so best to guard a bit of our personal info to avoid really sticky situations..

Dreaming of nice and lovely home is one of my pastimes. I just love the planning stages of fixing up a home. My family has moved around a lot for the past few years and I just know the feeling of excitement when you're planning the look of your home.

Along with this excitement comes stress too. At times choosing and properly placing furnitures can be stressful. You keep trying to achieve the look you want yet sometimes everything just doesn't jive. Take the stress out of interior designing by researching bedroom furnishings, living room furniture, dining room sets, tables and storages.

If you're house is not so spacious, try getting storage beds, it offers plenty of storage leaving you with a lot more room to move around. But if you have loads of space, then get yourself a queen sleigh bed, it would surely add some elegance to your bedroom. Before making a purchase learn how to evaluate the quality of the furnishings you want to buy, if it matches your needs and its great to learn how to protect and properly use these, after all these are investments too.

Credit cards can help you out or put you in a position where you're up to your neck in debt. I really believe that these cards are there to help us out but we also should know how to carefully manage the use of our credit cards to avoid its pitfalls.

Having a credit card is a big responsibility. I'm not saying it should just be used for emergencies but rather we can use it regularly and using it and timely paying it would indicate the you are a responsible credit holder. One big help in managing your credit cards is knowing what are the features and charges and compare it with other cards at the time you apply for one.

I came across one site offering credit card information as well as online application. The site is very easy to navigate and contains loads of information on most type and brands of credit cards. For readers convenience they even categorized credit cards depending on the issuer, the features like low interest, instant approval, bad credit, rewards, cash back, student, business, balance transfer, hotel/airline and prepaid type credit cards. The site has a blog featuring credit cards and their reviews plus other information.

Get as much knowledge when you get your first credit card. It really helps to make an informed choice!

The World is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page. ~St. Augustine

The quote says it all! Travel, seeing other places, meeting other people. This the best way to broaden our minds and perspectives. I really believe that if you want to develop a broad view about men, countries and things, you have to travel. Broadmindedness simply cannot be acquired by just sitting in your own little corner.

Most of the time, excuses for not taking the opportunity to travel is lack of time and lack of funds. But times are changing now and most travel companies now offer cheap flights to get you to your dream travel destination.

I think the travel industries drive now is to provide travel and learning opportunities for those who have limited budgets by offering cheap hotels and resorts, affordable vacation packages and cheap flights.

A lot of these offers can now be availed of online so check out the world wide web and get yourself some tips on where you can book cheap flights, hotels, rentals and cheap vacation packages. Don't miss the opportunity to travel, learn about other cultures and enrich ourselves even on tight budget..

Just a little over a month ago, I bought a domain name and got myself a Philippine-based freelance web host. I paid the annual fee plus the domain registration fee and after a 24 hours, voila! my domain and site is already active. But if you think that everything has been rosy since then, you've got to have another think coming. There are times I can't access my control panel and just about a week ago my web hosts' sites cannot be access and the only way support can be accessed is by sending email.

Now I'm regretting my impetuous decision. Since I'm new at this web and blogging things I didn't even consider researching for the best web hosting services available. I simply looked at the price they offered and jumped at it! Talk about impulsiveness..

As a blogger or any website owner, of course I want my site to always be up for editing and more so for my site visitors. Good web hosting services not only means it should be affordable but it should always be up and always with good backup. And take into consideration also the presence of a good and reliable technical support.

I'm now planning to have a new site (something to do with entertainment..) and I certainly don't want to repeat the same mistake. This time I have to get myself the best web hosting around.

Since I gave birth I've been struggling to lose those extra pounds. I tried lots of diets, and exercises and right now I'm on Hip Hop Abs Dance Exercise. I like it coz its not too structured and the music is nice and I love to dance so we're getting along just fine and I'm slowly getting back into shape with a good diet.

I read this in a health mag and thought I might share it. Being overweight is your body's reaction to a dysfunctional glandular system. According to Eric Berg, DC. (in his book The 7 Principles of Fat Burning), he explains that accessing body shape is crucial to creating the right plan to nurture the glands back to healthy functioning. You can achieve weight loss and better health after you help your body's glandular system operate in a balanced way.

Take a look at the four basic body types and nutrition/exercise plan for each.

  • THE ADRENAL TYPE - has fat sags from the abdomen. This type craves chocolates or salty food, is anxious, feels need for stimulants and has chronic inflammation.
Nutrition: eat foods high in potassium, calcium and Vitamin C plus 50 to 75 grams of protein daily.

Exercise: light, slow exercise.
  • THE OVARY TYPE - carries excess saddles around hips and thighs (saddlebags), with a bulge just beneath the navel. They often have pain in their lower back/hip area; women suffer from hot flashes and lowered sex drives and have many problems with menstruation.
Nutrition: consume lots of cruciferous vegetables (anti-estrogenic) plus 50 to 75 gms. of protein daily. Meats and fats should be hormone free.

Exercise: either light or intense.
  • THE THYROID TYPE - shows weight gain all over the body. They crave sweets, breads and pastas, can suffer from depression; often have brittle nails, dry hair and skin.
Nutrition: needs iodine and should consume lots of non-cruciferous vegetables, but not large amounts of protein. Should go light on fats.

Exercise: high intensity, short duration exercise.
  • THE LIVER TYPE - has a "potbelly" appearance. This type craves deep-fried food, has tightness or pain in the right shoulder, often suffers from flaky skin in eye brows and scalp and has hot or swollen feet, and is irritable in the morning.
Nutrition: eat potassium-rich foods such as cruciferous vegetables and consume easily digestible protein such as fish and eggs.

Exercise: High intensity, short duration exercise.

I've been surfing the web and I came across Time and its list of Top 10 Oddball Newstories. Interesting and weird.. Read on.

1. A Major Head Case

Margret Wegner underwent surgery in August to remove a pencil that had been stuck inside her head for 55 years. The German woman had suffered from chronic headaches and nosebleeds after falling at age 4 with the writing implement in hand. "The pencil went right through my skin and disappeared into my head," she said. It was too risky at the time to remove the three-inch object, which did not pierce any vital parts of her brain. But thanks to significant technological improvements, this summer surgeons in Berlin were able to remove all but the pencil's tip.

2. A Need for Bigger Buoys?

Some women in the Australian Navy may be noticeably perkier since the government helped pay for their breast enlargements. The Navy said the cosmetic surgeries were carried out for psychological reasons and that without the procedures the female sailors would have been classified as unfit for deployment. But some politicians were up in arms over taxpayers footing the bill for an increased cup size, with one calling the government-funded breast enhancements a "questionable practice."

3. Thou Shalt Not Run a Red Light

Have road rage, say Hail Mary's. In June the Vatican issued a list of 10 Commandments for drivers as part of a 36-page document titled "Guidelines for the Pastoral Care of the Road." According to the document, driving brings out the "primitive" side of man and cars can be "an occasion of sin." The guidelines call for such things as respecting speed limits and not using cell phones behind the wheel. But en-route praying is encouraged, the document says, because the "rhythm and gentle repetition" of the Rosary "does not distract the driver's attention."

4. Fatal Hydration

A silly water-drinking contest ended in tragedy in January. Jennifer Strange, 28, was trying to win a Nintendo Wii gaming system in a contest a California radio station had dubbed "Hold Your Wee for a Wii." But the organizers were unaware of the dangers of consuming too much liquid in a short period of time. Contestants started out drinking 8 ounces of water every 15 minutes, and finalists were handed even bigger bottles to polish off. Later that day, Strange complained of a headache and hours later died from water intoxication.

5. Sleepwalking in the Buff

British budget hotel chain Travelodge reported a seven-fold increase in sleepwalking from the previous year and noted that 95% of the somnambulists had been naked men. When the company released the results of its annual sleepwalker audit in October, it reissued guidelines on how hotel staff should handle wandering snoozers, including keeping a supply of towels behind the reception desk to protect their dignity.

6. Ho-Ho No-No

Santas in Australia may sound a little less jolly this season after word spread that they had been asked to stop saying "ho ho ho" and to use "ha ha ha" instead. One disgruntled would-be St. Nick said the traditional phrase had been banned because it might be offensive to women. But the management company running the Santa training sessions maintains that it was only a suggestion, and that the greeting is being left up to the discretion of each individual Santa.

7. For the Love of Publicity ( see photo above...)

Artist Damien Hirst is no stranger to controversy. (Shark preserved in formaldehyde, anyone?) This year he unveiled "For the Love of God," a platinum cast of a human skull encrusted with 8,601 diamonds. The artist bought the 18th-century skull in England and maintains that all of the gems were ethically sourced, i.e., no blood diamonds on these old bones. Hirst also claims an anonymous consortium bought the skull for $100 million — which would be a record-breaking sale for a living artist — but many in the art world speculate he faked the sale in order to drum up publicity.

8. A Synonym for Streetwalker

British legislation is calling for the removal of the word "prostitute" from criminal statutes. The term has been around for 180 or so years, but in July the Justice Ministry argued that the word carries too much social stigma. Ministry officials are pushing to replace it with the phrase "persons who sell sex persistently," which is defined as twice or more within a three-month period. And the bill would do more than just play with nouns: It would decriminalize less frequent selling of sex and introduce new measures to try to get sex workers out of the industry.

9. Buzz-Worthy Toads

In October, a Kansas City man was arrested for possession of a peculiar type of drug paraphernalia: a toad. It turns out smoking dried toad venom is an effective, albeit gnarly, way to get high. The venom, which is secreted by the Sonoran Desert toad when it gets angry or scared, contains a hallucinogen called bufotenine.

10. A Hairy Online Auction

Here's a worthy contender for world's weirdest promo: Baseball trading-card company Topps obtained three strands of George Washington's hair from a historical hair collector, attached them to Washington "relic" cards and inserted them into regular packs of baseball cards. In September, one of the relics ended up on eBay, where bidding reached $8,300 before the item was pulled for violating site policies. The problem? An eBay member complained the founding-father memorabilia should not have been listed as a baseball card.

My husband and I are planning to renovate the house in Phnom Penh when we get there middle of this year. A relative of mine working for a real estate firm and another an architect had been advising us that money invested in the construction or remodeling of a bathroom will be money in your pocket when it comes time to sell the house.

I think this really make sense, and since I am a "bathroom person" (haha it takes me about 30 minutes to an hour to take a bath) I wouldn't mind spending some money on a good bathroom and good quality vanity. While my husband is hooked on bathroom tiles, essential fixtures, I am looking at the bathroom vanities. I have loads of beauty stuff so I want something with lots of space and lots of extension drawers, with double vanity mirrors and it should have the tops sealed to prevent watermarks and prevent peeling. I love vanities with contemporary look to them, clean cut and saves a lot of space.

There are actually a lot of choices available and choosing the right bathroom vanity can actually create the total look that you want for your bathroom and since I spend a lot of time in it, I want it to be appealing as well as functional. It should also be durable and should last for many years.

Choosing the right fixtures should be considered in fixing this primping place. Since we'll be renovating the a family bathroom, it'll be a great benefit if it has a lot of room for towels, bath toys, toilet paper and beauty stuff. I want the bathroom vanity to also be stain and water resistant including the insides, and I'd love to have unframed mirrors.

My husband is now starting to complain.. with a really nice bathroom, I'd probably be extending my shower hours from 1 hour to 2 hours. I wouldn't bet on that though, I like primping but I'd hate looking like a prune!

I guess, this explains the theory of supply and demand.. :)

In every pang that rends the heart
The Man of Sorrows has a part.

I have read in Plato and Cicero sayings that are very wise and very beautiful; but I never read in either of them: "Come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden." ~St Augustine

The King of love my Shepherd is,
Whose goodness faileth never;
I nothing lack if I am His
And He is mine forever.
~Henry William Baker

Had Christ the death of death to death
Not given death by dying,
The gates of life had never been
To mortals open lying.

The dying Jesus is the evidence of God's anger toward sin; but the living Jesus is the proof of God's love and forgiveness. ~Lorenz Eifert

I got tagged by Liza..

The rules: Below are the letters A-Z. You have to fill in your dreams and wishes in the letter that corresponds to the first letters of your full name, and these wishes of yours should also start with those letters.

For example, in my case, my full name is Lisa with an surname initial of T, so I’d take L and T. After doing so, I will fill in spots L and T with what I want to be other than what I am now. This is basically “I wish I were a/an…”. Don’t forget to put your links in the item/s, okay, so people will know…

(Note: if the letter is already filled, replace it with your dream/wish, and if you have two or three first names, then good: fill the letters up!)

:) I'm posting this for three reasons:
I love Halle Berry (her style and everything!)
I like the baby's name.. It sounds exotically beautiful!
and mostly because motherhood is a Celebration!

The baby girl, who was born Sunday, is the first for the Oscar winning actress and her model boyfriend, Gabriel Aubry.

A day after Nahla's birth, Aubry's sister, Eugenie, told PEOPLE, "It's been a long time since we've had a new baby in the family. It's very exciting."
Nahla means honeybee in Arabic, says Michael D. Cooperson, associate professor of Arabic at UCLA.

Berry, 41, tells Access Hollywood, "We didn't have a name picked out until just before we left the hospital."
"For us it was hard to name the most important person in our life until we met her," Berry adds.
