There are numerous styles of houses you can see today. Houses now comes in all shapes, styles and colors imaginable. But when it comes to building my dream home, I prefer to hunt for the right house plans that would best suit me and my family.

My husband and I are planning to build our own home in Phnom Penh within the next three years. At this time we are constantly on the hunt for home plans that would be workable, would define our style, and the size of the home we want.

Initially we had been looking at ready made houses but we both decided it would be much better to look for a suitable house plan and build our dream house from scratch. So we had been surfing a lot and came across this site www.houseplansandmore.com where you can purchase house plans online. They have fabulous selections and I particularly liked their log home plans. Log homes are simply beautiful and well the crafting hours that goes with it is just amazing. It's not what we have in mind for our home base but it would be great to have a log home for a vacation. Oh, well. I should never stop dreaming..

9 Food Sources vs. Arthritis

I know a lot of people with arthritis and they would be glad to know that there are really delicious food sources that could help them in their fight against arthritis.

  • Salmon. Yes, yummy salmon! Salmon is among the richest sources of healthy fats, making it an ideal source of omega-3 fatty acids, especially because it's less likely than other cold-water fish to harbor high levels of toxic mercury. In addition to its fatty oils, salmon contains calcium, vitamin D, and folate. Besides helping with arthritis, eating salmon may protect the cardiovascular system by preventing blood clots, repairing artery damage, raising levels of good cholesterol, and lowering blood pressure.
  • Bananas. Bananas are perhaps best known for packing potassium, but they're also good sources of arthritis-fighting vitamin B6, folate, and vitamin C. What's more, this easily digested, dense fruit is a prime source of soluble fiber, an important part of your diet if you're trying to lose weight because it helps you feel full without adding calories.

  • Sweet Peppers. A single green pepper contains 176 percent of your daily needs for vitamin C -- and colorful red and yellow varieties have more than double that amount. That makes them richer in C than citrus fruits, but sweet peppers are also excellent sources of vitamin B6 and folate.

  • Shirmp. Taste and convenience make shrimp the most popular shellfish around. But shrimp also deserves acclaim as one of the few major dietary sources of vitamin D, with three ounces providing 30 percent of the recommended daily amount -- more than a cup of fortified milk. Shrimp also contains omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin C, along with other nutrients essential for general health, including iron and vitamin B12.

  • Soya. Once relegated to the shelves of health-food stores, soy products such as tofu and tempeh have reached the mainstream largely because they've been shown to have cardiovascular benefits. But soybeans also protect bones, thanks to compounds called isoflavones and significant amounts of both vitamin E and calcium. Long a staple of Asian diets, soy can also be found in soy milk -- a boon for people who want to avoid lactose or cholesterol in regular milk.

  • Sweet Potatoes. These tropical root vegetables (which, technically, not related to white baking potatoes) are such a nutritional powerhouse, they once topped a list of vegetables ranked according to nutritional value by the Center for Science in the Public Interest. Sweet potatoes are a rich source of vitamin C, folate, vitamin B6, and dietary fiber, among other nutrients.

  • Cheese. Hard or soft, fresh or ripened, cheese in all its variety is an excellent source of calcium for bones, and protein for muscles and other joint-supporting tissues. Depending on type, cheeses (especially hard varieties such as cheddar and Colby) are also a good source of vitamin B6 and folate. The sheer abundance of cheeses makes it easy to get more in your diet -- by, for example, slicing hard cheeses onto crackers or grating them into casseroles, or spreading soft cheeses such as cottage cheese or Brie onto fruits or vegetables.

  • Lentils. These dried legumes, with their rainbow of earthy colors, are prime sources of folate, with a single cup providing about 90 percent of your daily needs. But lentils also provide one of the richest plant-based sources of protein, contain large amounts of soluble dietary fiber, and hold significant stores of vitamin B6. These and other nutrients make lentils protect the body against heart disease and cancer in addition to arthritis.

  • Green tea. This mild, slightly astringent tea contains hundreds of powerful antioxidant chemicals called polyphenols and has been cited for helping prevent problems ranging from cancer to heart disease. But studies also suggest green tea may help prevent or ease symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis. In one study of induced arthritis in mice, green tea cut the disease onset rate almost in half, and follow-up studies by the same researchers, at Case Western Reserve University, in Ohio, show promise in humans.

Yesterday was Ms. Prim and Proper's birthday and I just wished I could see her. She's one of my best friends and we've been close since we were in first year college. This made me reminisce a lot and at times you'd wish those days would be back. But hehe that would be difficult to do, all of us are now busy with our own lives, marriages, jobs, kids and so on..

I've had a lot of friends come and at times, go but these two are the one's I could easily describe as my friends through thick and thin. All three of us have really differing personalities yet I am still amazed at how easily we have bonded. I've wanted to write a post above them for so long now but I value their privacy as well as mine. So I thought of making avatars that resembles them so I wouldn't need to post photos :).

This one's Ms. Prim & Proper. I'm sure you could guess why I gave her that nickname. I met her, on the first day of class, first year college. She's tall, with "morena" skin, fabulous features, in short, she's gorgeous. When we were in college she was like a guy magnet (meaning most of our crushes had a big crush on her :P). But that doesn't end there, she's got the brains to boot..

She's conservative, when it comes to her clothing style and would only wear pastel colored shirts with straight cut jeans. No low waist jeans, no sleeveless shirts here. We'd also call her our group "conscience". Every time we'd plan to do something outrageous she be the one to put her foot down. She studies a lot, she had really neat and organized notes for each class and that both me and Ms. Wacky Fashionista were very lucky to have that to copy from. I hated taking notes and the photo copier machine was my best friend in college.

Whenever we have problems I'd run to her for advices. She's very sensible and matured. Wouldn't even bat an eyelash whenever we tell her we did something an idiot wouldn't even think of attempting. For me she's a gem, a friend I'd treasure and I am lucky I experienced college life with her.

Ms. Wacky Fashionista. She's one of the wackiest person I know. Everytime I'm with her I'm always cracking up. She has this amazing command of language and could turn any scene, thing into something to laugh at.

She's an avid fashionista. She'd never wear anything lame or something that would fade into the background. My brother used to describe her as the "walking traffic light". She loves color and would never be caught without her bling blings and accessories. When she got married, her wedding color motif was fuschia pink and brillliant orange, so now you get what I mean hmm..

I met her in grade school and we've been friends ever since. We went separate ways during high school but the friendship didn't end there and I met her again in college. In school, she's the only one who had the guts to tease and bully our professors. She even initiated a betting game on whether or not our BA 201 Professor was really wearing wigs or not. And not just that, while she was calling on the bets, she'd didn't realize our professor was actually standing behind her. Lol!

Her normal self can be considered outrageous for others. I lost count of the times she'd tilt her chair during typing class and she'd fall, with the chair on top of her and all. Whenever that happens, she'd stay seated on the floor and wait till mid-class to get up so nobody would notice she'd fallen over again. I've actually lost count of the pranks she pulled.

For all her wackiness and jolliness, Wacky Fashionista is extremely loyal and would never leave friend in a lurch. I appreciate her honesty a lot. She'd never be the one to beat around the bush and would tell you directly if there is something wrong and she can be fiercely protective of her friends.

Both of them are now happily married but Ms. Prim & Proper live in Albay and Ms. Wacky Fashionista is out of the country so we have to content ourselves with the occasional phone calls and constant YM sessions. I miss those days when we could hang out in a moment's notice but I could only look forward and be thankful for the friends I had been blessed with.

Earning from my blogs is very rewarding but it is not the main reason I am blogging to the point of addiction. One of the things I enjoy the most about blogging is socializing and networking with other bloggers. Blogging has opened a lot of avenues for me, new online friends, new ways to share information with people who share my interests and hosts of other things. And for sometime now I had been wishing there would be one site where we could get the best of both worlds. A chance to build a community, network, get some traffic and still get the chance to earn money from our blogs.

The folks behind Payperpost and Blogger's Choice Awards probably had this in mind when SocialSpark was conceived. A combination of paid to blog services and social networking. Their tagline even says "Get Everyone Talking", so I got interested. I have just recently signed up and so far I find it great. So what can a blogger do with Social Spark?
  • Monitize your blog - Socialspark offers two types of opportunities for you to earn with your blog.
    1. Sponsored Post - an advertiser provides the opportunity as well as post guidelines and blogger will create post on his/her blog based on these guidelines. Advertiser pays for each individual post made.
    2. Blog Sponsorship - Advertiser's will use SocialSpark's innovative technology technology to create a welcome banner which can consist of video, text or image on the sponsored blog. Price is on a daily basis and depends on how many days your blog will run the sponsorship.
  • Drive traffic, link exchanges with Sparks - Sparks are also a marketplace opportunity offered by SocialSpark. These are free opportunities that would serve as blog post ideas, can be utilized by both blogger and advertiser. From what I have seen Sparks are a great opportunity for blogger to create buzz, generate traffic all at no cost.
  • Network and Build a Community with Fellow Bloggers - browse though blogs and other users and add friends. You can leave them messages ( but no spamming please :P) in short communicate and connect. You can also prop your friends, advertisers and blog sites. Props are your new way of giving someone your vote of confidence or high rating.
In terms of site functionality and aesthetics, SocialSpark is pretty colorful, can be easily navigated so you won't get lost :). On the left is the my profile page, neat isn't it? I have a thing though with the avatar, it's really hard to fix and I think I'm not the only one who have problem with it coz a lot of profiles I've seen have err distorted avatars hmm..

Interested in socializing with bloggers and earning as well, do check out SocialSpark and take advantage of the hosts of benefits it could offer you.

I've been feeling fidgety and restless since yesterday so I spent the rest of today doing some jewelry craft making and I came up with two bracelet watches in assorted materials plus one red-orange bangle.

I'm a now a little less-hyper and settled down meaning I'm lazy so I'll probably be posting photos of my work tomorrow on my other blog. I'm not sure If I'd still sell my watches for today. It's been awhile since I made fashion accessories for sale, most were for giveaways since I don't have much time to shop for materials and crafting also takes a lot of time. I do it now mostly as a release of creative energy and it actually rejuvenates me.

So why do I say I'm green minded? I took the "What Color is Your Mind Test" and here's the results.

Your Mind is Green

Of all the mind types, yours has the most balance.

You are able to see all sides to most problems and are a good problem solver.

You need time to work out your thoughts, but you don't get stuck in bad thinking patterns.

You tend to spend a lot of time thinking about the future, philosophy, and relationships (both personal and intellectual).

Now I know what is the real meaning of being green-minded. Lol!

I've been really busy these past few days, well my family is still my first priority as well as my health. I've been regularly visiting my dentist these past few days. We'll be leaving for Phnom Penh in a month's time and for some reason I have problem looking for a dentist there that would suit me. So I'm having everything done now and will be back again next year.

Hubby Hi-ace is now also writing his dissertation so he doesn't like being disturbed and he behaving like he's having PMS haha I hope he doesn't read this. But anyway I don't mind and just let him be.

Another thing keeping me busy is I've been back taking regular walking exercises. Since I've started blogging my daily walking exercise have been reduced considerably and the consequence is now visible (hehe I'm feeling the bulge on my tummy now..) and I feel a bit panicky.. Good thing my hubby and little girl is now going with me for my walk around the village. I feel so renewed and energized now that I've picked up the habit again..

Photobucket

So what does Snow White have to do with this post? Nothing really! Haha I just remembered something that happened a few days ago. I was having a really bad spell of migraine and my daughter kept hovering over me. I then asked her, "Chinks, what's wrong? Do you need anything from mommy? She looked at me seriously and asked, "Mommy you have pain. Are you going to die? I hugged her and assured her, "No Chinks, Mommy just have headache and I'm not dying yet."

With such an endearing innocence she told me, "If you die Mom I'm going to look for a handsome prince and have him kiss you." I was rolling with laughter and needed to explain to her that Snow White and Prince Charmings are just fairytales. One thing I realized, Chinks doesn't think of her dad as a prince. I told Hi-ace about this and he gave me an almost horrified look and said, "You mean our daughter doesn't think of me as prince?" Lol!

I worked once for customer and tech support and I know how toxic it could get, but at times some cases could really be hilarious. Here's one funny incident I found on the net. Read on and have some laugh..
I had been doing Tech Support for Hewlett-Packard's DeskJet division for about a month when I had a customer call with a problem I just couldn't solve. She could not print yellow.
All the other colors would print fine, which truly baffled me because the only true colours are cyan, magenta, and yellow.
For instance, green is a combination of cyan and yellow, but green printed fine. Every color of the rainbow printed fine except for yellow.
I had the customer change ink cartridges. I had the customer delete and reinstall the drivers. Nothing worked. I asked my coworkers for help; they offered no new ideas.
After over two hours of troubleshooting, I was about to tell the customer to send the printer in to us for repair when she asked quietly, "Should I try printing on a piece of white paper instead of this yellow paper?"

One of the household tasks that is so difficult for me to delegate is food preparation. Mom's always want the tastiest and cleanest food for her family. Although it takes some time to cook and prepare meals, it one task I won't easily leave to the helper to do. In cases I delegate food preparation to a helper I still make sure I check once in a while.

Why do I feel strongly about that? Well I'm scared about food contamination and last night I was watching the news and was saddened to hear that a lot of kids were food poisoned from the food they ate in the school canteen. If we practice safe food preparation then we lessen the risk of food-borne diseases.

Here some important safe food preparation practices:

  • Keep it clean to avoid cross contamination. Make sure your countertop, kitchen tools and your hands are clean. It's good to use a separate chopping board for meats. Try using glass or acrylic since its easier to clean.
  • Store food at proper temperature. Check your refrigerator and freezer temperature. Refrigerator should be at 38F (not exceeding 40F) and freezer should be at 0 degrees
Farenheit. When you are in grocery, get frozen items last.
  • Defrost safely. Bacteria multiply rapidly at 40 - 140 degrees Farenheit. The best method to defrost food is in the refrigerator, micrwave or a cold water defrost. Make sure to cook the food immediately.
  • Make sure the food is cooked well. A food thermometer will provide valuable help.
  • Leftovers should be refrigerated immediately. Don’t leave cooked food at room temperature for more than 2 hours, or for more than 1 hour in hot weather. It is okay to allow food to cool slightly before putting it away so as not to raise the temperature inside the refrigerator to unsafe levels.

MEET THE PARENTS (Robert de Niro and Ben Stiller) Male nurse Greg Focker meets his girlfriend's parents before proposing, but her suspicious father is every date's worst nightmare.

THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS (Will Smith and Jaden Smith) Chris Gardner has big dreams for him and his family but it doesn't seem to come together for him. Chris has an opportunity to be a stock broker but first he has to go through a grueling internship which means no pay. Chris decides to do it but when his wife leaves and he is evicted, he has to take care of his son on his own.

FATHER OF THE BRIDE (Steve Martin and Dianne Keaton) In this remake of the Spencer Tracy classic, George and Nina Banks are the parents of young soon-to-be-wed Annie. George is a nervous father unready to face the fact that his little girl is now a woman. The preparations for the extravagant wedding provide additional comic moments.

MRS.DOUBTFIRE (Robin Williams and Sally Field) Out of work father Daniel Hilliard find himself suddenly divorced without custody of his kids. To solve this problem, he disguises himself as an old Scottish nanny to get hired by his ex-wife and be closer to his kids. This one's a comedy but I still wonder why I cry buckets whenever I watch this.

FINDING NEMO (Albert Brooks and Ellen Degeneres) A father-son underwater adventure featuring Nemo, a boy clownfish, stolen from his coral reef home. His timid father must then travel to Sydney, and search Sydney Harbour find Nemo.

KRMAER VS. KRAMER (Dustin hoffman and Meryl streep) Ted Kramer is a career man for whom his work comes before his family. His wife Joanna cannot take this anymore, so she decides to leave him. Ted is now faced with the tasks of housekeeping and taking care of himself and their young son Billy. When he has learned to adjust his life to these new responsibilities, Joanna resurfaces and wants Billy back. Ted however refuses to give him up, so they go to court to fight for the custody of their son. My mom's favorite movie of all time and I ended up digging it too..

LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL (Roberto Benigni) In 1930s Italy, a carefree Jewish book keeper named Guido starts a fairy tale life by courting and marrying a lovely woman from a nearby city. Guido and his wife have a son and live happily together until the occupation of Italy by German forces. In an attempt to hold his family together and help his son survive the horrors of a Jewish Concentration Camp, Guido imagines that the Holocaust is a game and that the grand prize for winning is a tank. This is also one of my favorite movies and it just shows what being a parent is all about.

CHEAPER BY THE DOZEN (Steve Martin) A dad played by Steve Martin moves his wife and 12 kids to a new city when he gets his dream job coaching a college football team. While his wife is out of town, the situation proves overwhelming. This one's hilarious but will impart lots of lessons on being a family.

BIG FISH(Ewan McGregor) In this humorous and touching tale directed by Tim Burton, a son gets to know his mysterious father by dissecting some of his dying dad's tall tales.

I am so into modern furniture! I could tirelessly go window shopping for these beautiful yet very functional furnishings. Home furnishing stores are a must visit for me when I'm in my window shopping mood and lately I've been so hooked into browsing online furniture stores. It's very relaxing for me and modern furniture are simply delightful to look at, a feast for the eyes!

Modern furniture are furnitures produced from the late 19th century through the present that is influenced by modernism. It deviated from the furniture designs before it. Dark and richly decorated fabric were replaced with stunning simplicity and geometry usually of polished metal . In short, furniture evolved from being visually heavy to visually light.

There are several styles included in the term modern furniture like art deco, mid-century or industrial. But they share common characteristics and those are simplicity, functionality, quality, technological and architectural elements.

Modern furniture are known for their simplicity so you won't find much embellishments since they use simple, geometric lines. If you want the modern look, then look for simplistic and streamlined shapes. I love it coz it looks so clean and uncluttered. It's also easy to decorate a room with contemporary furniture since most of them are space savers.

Online shops also offer fabulous selection of modern furniture. Being able to see all styles at your own leisure is one of the added advantage of online shopping.

A nice surprise from your meal? Check this out..a yummy discovery!

A man in Florida was halfway through an order of steamed clams when he bit down on something hard, it was a rare, iridescent purple pearl. George Brock and his wife, Leslie, had been spent the day at the beach Friday in South Florida and stopped at Dave’s Last Resort & Raw Bar for a bite.

Their discovery is thought to be valued at $6,000 US or more. The gems are found most frequently in large New England quahogs, clams known for violet coloring on the inside of their shells. The clams in the $10 plate came from Apalachicola in the Florida Panhandle, said restaurant manager Tom Gerry.

A Canadian woman lost her job as a waitress at Nathaniel’s restaurant because she shaved her head to help raise $2,700 for a local cancer research fundraiser! I didn't know this is still possible in this day and age. What a short-sighted and narrow-minded management!

Stacey Fearnal’s charity shave was a show of support for a friend battling cancer and in memory of her father who lost his life to cancer.
“I felt like this was a pretty easy thing for me to do to raise money to help people. I think it’s for a good cause,” Fearnal went on, “It’s not hurting anybody and it doesn’t affect my ability to work.”
When she came back to work practically bald, the management sent her home and told her not to come back.
Rowena Pinto, spokeswoman for the Canadian Cancer Society, said, “We want to underline that it’s supporters like Stacey that enable us to carry out our mission.”
She adding this is the first such incident her organization has ever heard of in relation to any of its fund-raising events.
I guess there are still people who still need some education on fair treatment of employees.. My father is continuously fighting cancer and I was really mad and piqued at this news and this post is in support of Stacey and for supporters of worthy causes like hers.

Are you on the lookout for the right mailbox? Are you undecided on which mailbox you want to affix to your house exterior? I had been surfing the web on mailboxes and I was amazed by the variety of options you can choose from.

There are Curbside Mailboxes which includes free-standing mailboxes and this comes in different designs to suit your outdoor landscape. Wall-mounted mailboxes are also available. In terms of materials, there are mailboxes made with copper, brass or combination of both. What I find exceptional now are the availability of locking mailboxes and this comes too in various sizes, designs and its high-tech, tamper-proof and vandal resistant. Commercial mailboxes are also sold online like cluster mail boxes, drop boxes and mail slots.

When making your purchase, make sure you have first measured your available space for your mailboxes. Choose a color or design that would complement the look of your house. Do some browsing around to see different styles and choose one that would best suit you. Do check out the product warranty before committing yourself on a purchase.

I've seen a lot of horoscopes and birth signs related to animals, colors, flowers, numbers, and all things you can just imagine, but here's something you can think about and have some laugh. Lol! I'm a Pisces so I have an "addictive personality" huh? Have fun!

Alcohoroscopes explains your expected behaviour after you get drunk based on your sun sign.
  • ARIES - Drinking style Impulsive Aries people like to party and sometime sdon’t know when to call it a night. Their competitive streak makes them prone to closing-time shot contests. They’re sloppy, fun drunks, and they get mighty flirty after a couple tipples. Getting Aries people drunk I sa good way to get what you want out of them, should other methods fail. Aries can become bellicose when blotto, but they will assume that whatever happened should be forgiven (if not forgotten) by sunrise. They can be counted on to do the same for you — so long as you haven’t gone and done anything really horrible to them last night, you sneaky Gemini.
  • TAURUS - Drinking style Taurus prefers to drink at a leisurely pace, aiming for a mellow glow rather than a full-on zonk. Since a truly intoxicated Taurus is a one-person stampede, the kind of bull-in-a-china-shop inebriate who spills red wine on white carpets and tells fart jokes to employers, the preference for wining and dining (or Bud and buddies) to body shots and barfing is quite fortunate for the rest of us. This is not to say thatthe Bull is by any means a teetotaler — god, no. A squiffy Taurus will get, er, gregarious (full of loud mouth soup, some would say) and is extremely amusing to drag to a karaoke bar when intoxicated.
  • CANCER - Drinking style Cancer is a comfort drinker — and an extra wine with dinner or an after-work beer or six can be extra comforting, can’t it, Cancer darling? Like fellow water signs Scorpio and Pisces, Crabs must guard against lushery. Cancers are brilliant at ferreting out secret parties and insinuating themselves on VIP lists — and, in true Hollywood style, Cancers are never really drunk; instead, they get ‘tired and emotional’ (read: weepy when lubricated). But there’s nothing better than swapping stories (and spit) over a few bottles of inky red wine with your favorite Cancer. Even your second-favorite Cancer will do. The sign also rules the flavor vanilla, and you’d be adored if you served up a vanilla vodka and soda.
  • LEO - Drinking style Leo likes to drink and dance — they’re often fabulous dancers, and usually pretty good drinkers as well, losing their commanding dignity and turning kittenish. Of course, they’re quite aware they’re darling -Leos will be Leos, after all. They generally know their limit, probably because they loathe losing self-control. When they get over-refreshed, expect flirting to ensue — and perhaps not with the one what rung them. But Leo’s not the type to break rules even when drunk, so just try to ignore it (try harder, Cancer) and expects a sheepish (and hung over) Lion to make it up to you the next day.
  • VIRGO - Drinking style Cerebral Virgos are compelled to impose order onto their bender. Their famously fussy quest for purity could lead to drinking less than other signs, sure –but it could also lead to drinking booze neat, to sucking down organic wine or just to brand loyalty. They rarely get fully shellacked — but, oh, when they do! Virgo’s controlled by the intellect, but there’s an unbridled beast lurking within, and they let it loose when walloped. It’s dead sexy (and surprisingly unsloppy). As one Virgo friend used to declare, ‘I’m going to drink myself into a low-level of intelligence tonight.’ A toast to the sub genius IQ!
  • LIBRA - Drinking style ‘I’m jusht a social drinker,’ slurs Libra, ‘it’s jusht that I’m so damn social?’ Libra loves nothing more than to party, mingle and relate to everyone. Whether dipped in favor of Good Libra (with Insta-Frienddevice set to ‘on’) or heavier on the Evil Libra side (they are little instigators when bored), the Scales can really work a room. Charming as they are, Libras are notoriously lacking in self-control, however, which can get them into all sorts of trouble –including wearing their wobbly boots waaaay too early in the evening, flirting with every man/woman in the roomor even blacking out the night’s events entirely. Oops!
  • SCORPIO - Drinking style Don’t ever tell Scorpios they’ve had enough, for they’ll smirk at you and quietly but intentionally keep tippling till they’re hog-whimpering drunk, out of 100-proof spite. Scorpios like to drink, and screw you if you have a problem with that. Most of them seethe sauce as something to savor in itself, and not asa personality-altering tool — though if depressed, self-loathing Scorps seek total obliteration. But generally, they’re fascinating drinking pals, brilliant conversationalists and dizzying flirts. They also remember everything — especially what you did when you were blitzed. Only drink with a Scorpio who likes you.
  • SAGITTARIUS - Drinking style In vino veritas — and, for Sagittarius, in booze blurtiness: When buttered, they’ll spill all your secrets and many of their own. Tactlessness aside, Sagittarius is just plain fun to drink with. This is a sign of serious partying (what else would you expect from the sign of Sinatra, Keith Richards, the Bush twins and Anna Nicole Smith?). They’re the people who chat up everyone in the room, then persuade the entire crowd to travel somewhere else — like a nightclub, or a playground, or Cancun. Good-natured hijinks are sure to ensue (including a high possibility of loopy groping; spontaneous Sag is a brilliant booty call).
  • CAPRICORN - Drinking style Capricorn is usually described as practical, steadfast, money-hungry and status-thirsty — no wonder they get left off the astrological cocktail-party list. But this is the sign of David Bowie and Annie Lennox, not to mention Elvis. Capricorn is the true rock star: independent, powerful and seriously charismatic, not too eager to please. And if they make money being themselves, who’re you to quibble? But just like most rock stars, they’re either totally on or totally off, and they generally need a little social lubricant to loosen up and enjoy the after party, especially if they can hookup with a cute groupie.
  • AQUARIUS - Drinking style Aquarius and drinking don’t go together that well(except for water, that is). They have an innate tendency toward know-it-allism, and if they get an idea while sizzled, they’re more stubborn than a stain or a stone. If they’re throwing a party or organizing an outing, however, they’re too preoccupied with their duties to get combative — and they make perfectly charming drunks in that case. Fortunately, they’re usually capital drink-nursers. They also make the best designated drivers (if you can get them before they start raising their wrist):Aquarius is fascinated by drunk people and capable of holding interesting conversations with soused strangers while sober.
  • PISCES - Drinking style If you’re a Pisces, you’ve probably already heard that you share a sign and an addictive personality –with Liz Taylor, Lisa Minnelli and Kurt Cobain. Not only do Pisces like to lose themselves in the dreamy, out-there feeling that only hooch can give, but they build up a mighty tolerance fast. Who needs an expensive date like that? On the other hand, they’re fabulously enchanting partners, whether in conversation or in crime. With the right Pisces, you can start out sharing a pitcher of margaritas and windup in bed together for days. The phrase ‘addictive personality’ can be read two ways, you know. .

Here's a bit of an odd news. Odd but definetely nice news. It sometimes still surprises me what technology can do..

Alison DeLauzon thought the snapshots and home videos of her infant son were gone for good when she lost her digital camera while on vacation in Florida.

Then a funny thing happened: her camera "phoned home."

Equipped with a special memory card with wireless Internet capability, DeLauzon's camera had not only automatically sent her holiday pictures to her computer, but had even uploaded photos of the miscreants who swiped her equipment bag after she accidentally left it behind at a restaurant. The guy who stole the camera also took a picture of his accomplice holding the camera.

The Eye-Fi camera includes a 2 GB SD memory card which automatically uploads the photos to a home computer or an online photosharing service as soon as the user is linked to a familiar wireless network. Luckily, the culprits passed by an unsecured network, whose factory-installed setting matched that of DeLauzon's home system, and the Eye-Fi automatically shipped the photos.

Lauzon's experience shows the rise of technology and empowering gadgets and people to protect themselves and priceless data they contain.

In this day and age where most people communicate by mobile phones and internet, its hardly surprising that more and more people are forming online love relationships. I have several friends who hooked up with their boyfriends/husbands through internet. This is the rising trend nowadays, some may frown on it but then its a reality.

Meeting online friends or lovers face to face has its own risks and you also have to take precautions, particularly women, with stories going around about date rapes. iVillage has an interesting article on how to meet an online love face to face and how to make it work. Here's the general ideas on the article.
  • Keep in mind that you DON'T know this person. You might argue that you have spent 20 out of 24 hours each day talking and chatting with this person but you don't really know how they are in person. The way they look, act or what they are thinking.
  • Better phone first before face to face. Set up one or two phone calls and use this opportunity to get to know more about your cyber lover and judge whether you really want to meet him/her face to face.
  • Play it safe on your first date. Make sure you meet in a place where there are people and the time should be well chosen too. Late afternoon or early evening is recommended. If you decide to move to another location, take your own car. If the location seems inappropriate and unsafe, then leave.
  • Don't put too much pressure on yourself or on your date. Don't plan to spend the rest of the day together. Keep it light. Stay aways from intensive issues or topics. Don't interrogate your date, but do use this time as an opportunity to learn a bit more.
  • Make a good and lasting impression. As cautious as you need to be, you also want to impress your date. Taking precautions is a sign of a mature and intelligent woman and if he is a matured guy, then he would understand. ry to enjoy the nervous energy you are feeling. Have fun. Remember to smile. People are perceived as more attractive when they are having a good time. the top attributes that go toward making a good first impression are "warmth, a sense of humor, imagination, confidence, success, fitness, individuality, body language, conversational ability, creativity and kindness.

Being nerdy or geeky doesn't mean you have to be a fashion disaster. The truth is, this time geek has become chic and fashionable. People are now celebrating their geekiness in a lot of ways and even fashion is being invaded. Check out the latest trends in geek and nerd fashion!

Geeks can be technology-savvy and chic, stylish and fashionable.Designer Manuel Bozzi seems to be trying to make a similar statement with this piece of jewelry. The geeky ring has a keyboard mounted on it in lieu of a stone. The band is made of pure sterling silver and is priced at €165 or almost $255. This ring screams, “geek” loud and clear, and there is nothing wrong with that.
USB Flash Drive Swarovski Crystal Engagement Rings make it pretty high on my list of geek chic proposal accessories. The glitzy Swarovski baubles, which come in a variety of cuts and sizes, come off the top of the ring to reveal the USB stick. It also comes with a necklace so you can always wear it around your neck instead.
What an adorable way to store loving memories! Geeky and cute! But for now, it’s just a concept by designer Jennifer Flume, but it's really very likely something like this would go into production.

This ring box with a tiny LCD player embedded in the lid will do it for you! The Euricase has a 2” screen and carries up to 60 minutes of sound, so you can mumble on for an hour as she evaluates the worth of the gem. This one would cost you $200!

Wireless internet… this is something I can't live without for a week? You don’t have to go far these days to find it, but until Wi-Fi is everywhere, this t-shirt can help out tremendously (as well as score some points with fellow nerd-friends.) This glowing, animated tee detects 802.11b or 802.11g signals and displays the strength directly on the front of the shirt. $29.99USD

I know this is kind of out of place here in my blog but I'm a great admirer of this legendary fashion designer. Why? He revolutionized the way women should look. Yves Saint Laurent redefined how a modern woman should look by designing elegant pansuits for women. So women can now wear pants thanks to him and Coco Chanel. Don't get me wrong I like dresses or skirts but pants are definitely more comfy!

Yves Saint Laurent died in his Paris home on Sunday. The reclusive French maestro, who had retired from haute couture in 2002 after four decades at the top of his trade, had been ill for some time. Saint Laurent was widely considered the last of a generation that included Christian Dior and Coco Chanel and made Paris the fashion capital of the world. A design genius, Laurent designed instant classics that remains stylish even decades after.

Pierre Berge, Saint Laurent's business partner, praised YSL as the the man who gave women power through fashion. He just didn't think of beauty and aesthetics but wanted to make a social statement. In his own words, Saint Laurent said he felt "fashion was not only supposed to make women beautiful, but to reassure them, to give them confidence, to allow them to come to terms with themselves."

I just realized I had been writing a lot on fixing up living space, choosing furniture etc. It's a great interest of mine and I think most homemakers are interested in making their homes comfortable, functional and beautiful.

Here's another thing you can add to brighten up your home - the right lighting fixtures! A good choice of lighting is just like a right jewelry or accessory. It creates the mood of your room, adds drama and provides comfort and safety. To start know more about lighting, check out this wikipedia article on lighting. Bear in mind the three light sources classified according to intended use, general or ambient, task lighting, and accent lighting.

General or ambient lighting is intended to illuminate a general area. It brightens a whole area indirectly . This could be a basic lamp on a floor or a ceiling fixture.Task lighting helps you do something like read, sew under focused lighting. Accent lighting on the other hand highlights a decorative object like landscapes or paintings.

Experiment with different bulbs to achieve the brightness, warmth of tone or clarity of light you want for your room. Forecast lighting has a variety of options for general lighting. Floor lamps, chandeliers, wall lighting are excellent for entertainment and living spaces. Low pendant styles or candle-style chandeliers are great in creating dining-room intimacy.

For the kitchen, make sure you have an efficiently lit room. Use under cabinet lighting to illuminate your working area and choose halogen bulbs so you can accurately see your food's colors. For the bedroom, use general and task lighting. It would provide a relaxing atmosphere so you can have a better rest. A great tip: use mounted lamps so you'll have more space on your nightstand.

If you are living in the tropics or if your room has poor ventilation, it would be a good choice to install a ceiling fan. The breeze generated by ceiling fans can make your room a few degrees cooler and will save you from air conditioning expenses. Choose fans depending on where you will install it and consider how the room's lighting as well as ceiling color will work with the fan.

;( I'm breaking my morning habit.. I always do my Entrecard dropping chores in the morning so I can have the whole afternoon doing research or drafting posts. But since yesterday Entrecard has been down and I just read the email from the Entrecard Team. I suppose all entrecad users have it too.

Apparently there was an electrical fire at ThePlanet - the data centers housing Entrecard servers. So the site might be down for around 12 to 24 hours. I hope it would be up and running by tomorrow.

With this outage I was quite happy to note that I still have some traffic trickling to my sites Lol! That means I'm not entirely dependent on entrecard for traffic. Hahaha what a relief! But I still hope they would be up soon so I could get on with blog hopping and blog discoveries..
