I'm never the one for computer games and casino online, but my mom is an absolute fanatic when it comes to computer games. Her forays on gaming is as of now limited to arcade and strategy games. Ever since her retirement she has been entertained a lot with computer games, so bought a gaming computer just for that purpose :) .

Seeing my mom getting hooked on computer games, I've realized a lot of people get into casino online because of the thrill, the entertainment value, to win, to get away from boredom and let the time pass by and whole lot of other reasons. The problem though for those who are new at this or those on the lookout for reliable online casino is that there are literally thousands of sites you have to choose from. Choosing a good site for online casino is a daunting task itself. For those who are getting into this, it'll be highly recommended that you be informed and be guided. Be sure to read a casino online site review first to familiarize yourself with each online casino site, its features, games, structures, even graphics. These factor could have a great effect on your online gaming experience.

Visit casino online reviews so you'd be guided on factors that needs to be considered in choosing the online casino that best suits you. Getting the best choices would surely ensure a less troublesome or confusing gaming experience and rewarding you with a lot of excitement most online gamers have experienced. Go ahead, don't let lack of knowledge hinder from playing your game of chance.

We are in an increasingly connected world and having a credit card can work a lot to our advantage. You don't have to carry a lot of cash, which I think is a lot safer, you can easily and conveniently do transactions online, and with careful finance management can get you some savings in some form of rewards, frequent flyer miles, rebates and other great offers.

A type of credit card gaining much popularity these days are gas credit cards. Having a car nowadays is a necessity but gas and maintenance expenses can surely burn a hole in our pockets. One great help is to have a gas credit card. These cards are essentially for savings and rebates whenever you load up with gas. You can get a wide variety of options since almost all credit card issuing companies and banks are now issuing gas credit cards.

Check out the deals and offers by gas credit card issuers and best of all you can send you application online.

Got a new Acer Aspire 4520. We chose the one without Operating System because most packages were pre-installed with Windows Vista which I personally don't like because of some concerns on compatibility with some of my peripherals and since I surf the net a lot I didn't like loads of pop-ups/warnings of possible threats. I prefer working on Windows XP environment.

As of now though, I'm tearing my hair out coz the laptop has preinstalled linpus linux and my Microsoft XP can't be installed.. If it won't I'm now bugging my hubby to fix it. Hope it works soon, if not I won't be able to sleep tonight. :P If anyone knows how to do this properly, I'd really appreciate some help...

I was supposed to update my sites the whole day, but some errands took a lot of my time. By the time I hauled myself to my desk it was already after lunch.

Then my daughter kept bugging me to cook her pancakes for merienda.. Well I just couldn't say no to her pa-tweetums and lambing so I whipped up her favorite pancakes.

She just loves pancakes with peanut butter on top. I still can't believe she can consume around 3-4 pancakes per sitting. After eating the lot, she hugged me and whispered, "Mommy, I promise not to weewee on the bed tonight!" :) Being a mom is a lot of hard work but then we mommies are exceedingly lucky. I just wouldn't trade being a mom for anything..

Just for fun.. Browse through this and I'm sure you''ll find some..I mean most of them are true! I've highlighted the ones I can really relate to ^_^.

  • Women especially love a bargain. The question of 'need' is irrelevant, so don't bother pointing it out. Anything on sale is fair game.
  • Women never have anything to wear. Don't question the racks of clothes in the closet; you 'just don't understand'.
  • Women need to cry. And they won't do it alone unless they know you can hear them.
  • Women will always ask questions that have no right answer, in an effort to trap you into feeling guilty.
  • Women love to talk. Silence intimidates them and they feel a need to fill it, even if they have nothing to say.
  • Women need to feel like there are people worse off than they are. That's why soap operas and Oprah Winfrey-type shows are so successful.
  • Women don't need sex as often as men do. This is because sex is more physical for men and more emotional for women. Just knowing that the man wants to have sex with them fulfills the emotional need.
  • Women hate bugs. Even the strong-willed ones need a man around when there's a spider or a wasp involved.
  • Women can't keep secrets. They eat away at them from the inside. And they don't view it as being untrustworthy, providing they only tell two or three people.
  • Women always go to public restrooms in groups. It gives them a chance to gossip.
  • Women can't refuse to answer a ringing phone, no matter what she's doing. It might be the lottery calling.
  • Women never understand why men love toys. Men understand that they wouldn't need toys if women had an 'on/off' switch.
  • Women think all beer is the same.
  • Women keep three different shampoos and two different conditioners in the shower. After a woman showers, the bathroom will smell like a tropical rain forest.
  • Women don't understand the appeal of sports. Men seek entertainment that allows them to escape reality. Women seek entertainment that reminds them of how horrible things could be.
  • If a man goes on a seven-day trip, he'll pack five days worth of clothes and will wear some things twice; if a woman goes on a seven-day trip she'll pack 21 outfits because she doesn't know what she'll feel like wearing each day.
  • Women brush their hair before bed.
  • Watch a woman eat an ice cream cone and you'll have a pretty good idea about how she'll be in bed.
  • Women are paid less than men, except for one field: Modeling.
  • Women are never wrong. Apologizing is the man's responsibility, 'It's there in the Bible'. Hmmm, who was it that gave Adam the apple?
  • Women do not know anything about cars. 'Oil-stick, oil doesn't stick?'
  • Women have better restrooms. They get the nice chairs and red carpet. Men just get a large bowl to share.
  • The average number of items in a typical woman's bathroom is 437. A man would not be able to identify most of these items.
  • Women love cats. Men say they love cats, but when women aren't looking, men kick cats.
  • Women love to talk on the phone. A woman can visit her girlfriend for two weeks, and upon returning home, she will call the same friend and they will talk for three hours.
  • A woman will dress up to go shopping, water the plants, empty the garbage, answer the phone, read a book, or get the mail.
  • Women will drive miles out of their way to avoid the possibility of getting lost using a shortcut.
  • Women don't try as hard as men during sex; after all, they don't fall asleep afterwards.
  • Women do NOT want an honest answer to the question, 'How do I look?'
  • PMS stands for: Permissible Man-Slaughter. (Or at least men think it means that. PMS also stands for Preposterous Mood Swings and Punish My Spouse.
  • The first naked man a woman sees is 'Ken'.
  • Women are insecure about their weight, butt, and breast sizes.
  • Women will make three right-hand turns to avoid making one left-hand turn.
  • 'Oh, nothing,' has an entirely different meaning in woman-language than it does in man-language.
  • Lewis Carroll's Caterpillar had nothing on women.
  • Women cannot use a map without turning the map to correspond to the direction that they are heading.
  • All women are overweight by definition; don't agree with them about it. Women always have 5 pounds to lose, but don't bring this up unless they really have 5 pounds to gain.
  • If it is not Valentines day and you see a man in a flower shop, you can probably start up a conversation by asking, 'What did you do?'
  • Only women understand the reason for 'guest towels' and the 'good china'.
  • Women want equal rights, but you rarely hear them clamoring to be let into the draft to cover the responsibilities that go with those rights. All women seek equality with men until it comes to sharing the closet, taking out the trash, and picking up the check.
  • If a man ticks off a woman she will often respond by getting a fuzzy toilet cover which warms their rear, but makes it impossible for the lid to stay up thus it constantly gets peed on by the guys. (which gets them in more trouble)
  • Women never check to see if the lid is up. They seem to prefer taking a flying butt leap towards the bowl and then chewing men out because they 'left the seat up' instead of taking two seconds and lowering it themselves.
  • Women can get out of speeding tickets by pouting. This will get men arrested.
  • Women don't really care about a sense of humor in a guy despite claims to the contrary. You don't see women trampling over Tom Cruise to get to Gilbert Gottfried, do you?
  • Women fake orgasm because men fake foreplay.
  • It's okay for women to dance with each other and not be gay. You don't see straight men dancing together.
  • Women will spend hours dressing up to go out, and then they'll go out and spend more time checking out other women. Men can never catch women checking out other men; women will always catch men checking out other women.
  • The most embarrassing thing for women is to find another woman wearing the same dress at a formal party. You don't hear men say, 'Oh-my-GOD, there's another man wearing a black tux, get me out of here!'

This is the second part of my Quiapo on foot post. We've been to Villalobos St. and had our fill of crafting and jewelry materials. Stroll down to Echague/ Carlos Palanca St., here we can find lots of general merchandise stores selling household appliances, kitchen stuff, light fixtures at low low prices.

Along Echague you can also find banks (PSBank, Equitable, BDO, BPI) and some pawnshops and paid parking spaces. At the intersection of Villalobos and Echague there is a small wet market selling seafoods. A little walk towards "Ilalim ng tulay" there are small shops selling "ukay-ukay"/ second hand clothing. (Shirts go for as low as P20, shorts for around P50.. if you're lucky you can chance upon newly opened "ukay" and find nice bedsheets/comforters..)

Once you've reached "Ilalim ng Tulay" you'll discover numerous stores bursting with native Filipino handicrafts right under the bridge. You'll find walis tambo, decors made of shells, abaca handicrafts.

If you also want to experience Filipino craftmanship in airconditioned atmosphere proceed to Balikbayan Handicrafts (#3 - see map) near Basan St. Most of the items here are almost like the one's outside, but they are well crafted, hence pricier!

Take a short stroll towards the building between Norzagaray and Arlegui (#4 - see map), inside the building you'll find shops selling swarovski and freshwater pearls. There are a lot of shops around Quiapo selling swarovski and freshwater pearls but I'm mentioning this place because shops here offer the cheapest prices.

Another block (Hidalgo St.) with Greenwich in the corner there's a lot of stores selling pirated DVD's, MP3's.. Get under the underpass and find more stores here. I used to be so scared of this place, but now its safer to walk around here coz there are a lot of stores now and its well lighted.

Next cityonfoot post: Hidalgo St. - Photographer's Haven

I have other bestfriends... bags and SHOES! My husband frequently complains that my closet is chock full of bags I rarely use and countless shoes! I think its a girl thing so I never bothered to explain why I'm so obsessed with shoes and bags. I even think he expects me to buy a pair or two every month..haha!

My last post was on my newest kitchen pal.. ready to mix sauces from McCormick. Just in case you have lots of time, cook the sauce from scratch! Home-cooked is still the best. While were still on pastas, and sauces, I'd like to share this easy white sauce recipe my mom gave to me. It's great to use for lasagna recipe or you can just add on some ingredients to make your own sauce.

My family just loves pasta. It's great coz I really don't have to rack my brains on what to prepare whenever their having their "regular hunger pangs". The downside is that they actually expect me to whip up their fave pasta in a few minutes.

Though I love to cook, I don't really have loads of time to prepare complicated pasta recipes. I don't have a house helper since mid-2007 so most of the housework plus my child plus work so cooking for me should be as fast as I can muster. Lack of time though is not an excuse for me not to prepare delicious meals for my family. When I came across McCormick's Pasta Sauce Mix you can surely imagine my pleasure in finding this recipe mix. It has a lot of flavors and in just a couple of minutes you can whip up your favorite pasta. Just saute some mushrooms, seafoods, hotdogs or whatever you fancy then add cooked pasta and mix!

It makes cooking pasta a breeze! Just great for merienda and if your unexpected guests well, this is a great help. And if you're wondering how it tastes? It's absolutely yummy and you have a wide range of tastes to choose from. I personally love the Pesto Sauce Mix. Try it with shrimps..

I'm now sounding like an ad..But then I'd really recommend this product to busy mom's like me. :)

Here's what we did today...

I wanted to hang some frames on my daughter's room and when I checked out the malls most of the stuff I liked were a bit pricey so we decided to make it a weekend project with my kiddo. The frames are from Divisoria, for only P40! I bought 6 pcs so I could cover more of the wall with pictures.

Next step is to choose the picture. My daughter has a lot of framed pictures bedside drawer so we decided to use Anne Geddes pictures of babies. I just find them so adorable. With just a photo paper and a colored printer, we have, voila! High quality pictures for our frames.. (btw, I edited the pictures and adjusted it to grayscale since I wanted it to have a "newspaper print" look. I've also tried sepia to make it look antiquated.

Once photo is ready, just place on frame and hang it anywhere you want. You can also print quotes with nice borders and put in frame.. Less cost, but it looks nice too..

If you are an Ass : A very loyal and sweet person. Your loyalty can never be doubted. You are quite honest and sincere when it comes to your attitude towards working. You are a very simple person, indeed. Absolutely hassle free, humble, and down-to-earth!! That explains the reason why your friends cling on to you! You have a good taste for clothes. If your wardrobe is not updated with what is trendy, you sure are depressed. Popular and easy-going. You have a little gr! oup of dignified friends, all of them being quality-personified.

If you are a Slug : Always up to some sort of a mischief! The mischievous gleam in your eyes is what mak e s you so cute and attractive to everyone. You are an extremely fun-to-be-with kind of person. No wonder people seek your company and look forward to include you for all get-together's. However, you are sensitive which is a drawback. People need to select their words while talking to you. If someone tries to fiddle around and play with words while dealing with you, it is enough to invite your wrath. God bless the person then!

If you are a Cockroach : Quite contradictory to your name, you are a peace loving person. You best try to avoid a situation wherein you are required to fight. An outdoor person, you dislike sitting at one place for a long duration. You are a born leader, and have it in you how to tactfull! y deriv e work from people. You love being loved and when you receive your share of limelight from s omeone, you are all theirs!!!! Well, well... Hence some people could even take an advantage, flatter you to the maximum and get their work done. So be careful.....

If you are a Parasite : An extremely lovable, adorable person, sometimes shy, with a passion for quick wit. At times, you prefer quietness. You love exploring various things and going into depth of each thing. Under normal circumstances you're cool but when given a reason to, you are like a volcano waiting to erupt. You're a fashion bird. People look forward to you as an icon associated with fashion. Basically, you mingle along freely but don't like talking much to strangers. People feel very easy in your company. You observe care in choosing your friends.

If you are a Skunk : You are near to perfect and nice at heart! . The e xamples of your kindness are always circulated in groups of people. You, too, love peace. You wouldn't like to retaliate even to a person who is in the wrong. You are loved due to this. You do not wish to talk behind one's back. People love the way you always treat them. You can give, give, and give love, and the best part is that you do not expect it back in return. You are generous enough. Seeing things in a practical light is what remains the best trait of you guys.

If you are a Bullfrog : You symbolize a very happy-go-lucky approach in life. Whatever the surroundings may be, grim or cheerful, you remain unaffected. In fact, you spread cheer wherever you go. You are the leader of your group of fri ends! and go od at consoling pe ople in their times of need. You dislike hypocrisy and tend to shirk away from hypocrites. They can never be in your good books, no matter what. You are very methodical and organized in your work. No amount of mess, hence, can ever encompass you. Beware, it is easy for you to fall in love....

If you are a Snake : You are mysterious. You are someone who can handle pressure with ease, and can handle any atmosphere without going berserk. You can be mean at times, and love to gossip with your selected group. Very prim and proper. You like all situations and things to be in the w! ay you desire, which, sometimes is not possible. As a result, you may lose out in some relationships. But otherwise, you love to help people out from difficult and tight spots when they really need you.

If you are an Ape : Very impatient and hyper!!! You want things to be done as quick as possible. At heart, you are quite simple and love if you are the center of attraction. That way, you people are unique. You would like to keep yourself safe from all the angles. Shall your name be dragged or featured in any sort of a controversy, you then go all panicky. Therefore, you take your precautions from the very beginning. When you foresee anything wrong, your sixth sense is what saves you from falling in traps. Quite a money minded bunch you people are!!

I'm not gonna tag anyone, but feel free to grab the tag and have fun!

I got myself a really affordable webhost and registered pinaywifespeaks.com as my domain. I'm planning to use it for blogging through wordpress. I'm still tweaking the layouts/themes and it still doesn't have any content yet. I'm really excited though, I was so confused first when I installed wordpress. I've blogged about aromatherapy and essential oils before as an option for scenting your home. The thing against aromatherapy essential oils is that its a little bit expensive. As a cheaper alternative, you may also use potpourri. Potpourri is very affordable and can be easily found in our department or home/living stores.

Potpourri is a mixture of dried, naturally fragrant plant materials. Potpourri is used to give the air a pleasant smell. By mixing oils, leaves, or dried flowers to your taste, you make potpourri.

The word potpourri comes from the French word "pot-pourri," which was the French name for a Spanish stew with a wide variety of ingredients called olla podrida. In English, "potpourri" is often used to refer to any collection of miscellaneous or diverse items.
In ceramics manufacturing, a potpourri vase is a vase specifically designed for holding potpourri. In the traditional designs a potpourri container is provided with a pierced fitted lid, through which the scent may slowly diffuse.
To scent an area, potpourri is usually placed in bowls or in sheer fabric. But there are a lot of creative ideas you can come up with to how you can use potpourri to scent your house.
  • Use "sinamay". This native fabric is light and the gaps between the thread would allow the scent of potpourri to be released more. Cut sinamay in rectangles and put a handful of potpourri in the middle. Roll and tie the ends with ribbon. (You can buy sinamay from native handicraft stores or if you ever visit Bicol, buy lots of them its so much cheaper there and you can use it for creative projects!)
  • Sheer Fabric. Sew a pouch, stuff this with potpourri. Close the pouch with a string of beads, ribbons or sequins.
  • Old fabrics from bandannas. Sew small pillow from fabric, stuff with potpourri.
  • Tulle. Cut tulle in square. Put potpourri in the middle. Pull together the sides and crumple in the middle. Tie with a ribbon or string of beads.
I've also tried putting potpourri in my linen cabinets. Trust me, it smells so much better than mothballs . :) I hope these ideas can get you started..

I'm feeling really lousy today.. I woke up with a bad cold, a bit of fever and I've got no one in the house with me, which means I have to do my own cooking...

I wish I'd be invisible or if not somebody is here to cook and serve me steamy hot "goto"! Haaayyy! I just wanna scream this off. I probably should take some rest but I feel so bored on top of having cold and fever. I was never a big fan of TV so I'd rule out that activity and I'd like to read but no good books around.. :(

Forgive me, I'm just being pathetic. I'm sick, hehe that's my excuse anyway.

City on Foot: Pinaywife Venturing to Quiapo, Manila

I heard a lot about Quiapo from my elders.. My aunts used to go to church there and my cousins who are dvd and electronic freaks are always trooping to this old Manila downtown. This place is famed for the Black Nazarene Church, Plaza Miranda, bicycle stores, electronics and really great native handicrafts.

My itchy feet has always been wanting to explore Quiapo for ages and discover if there is more to this place than the fortune tellers and vendors selling herbal medicines along the street. The first time I ventured to this place, truthfully, I was more than a little scared. Quiapo is known for some pickpockets and snatchers as well as pirated Dvd's, softwares, mp3's and pornographic videos. This translates to - in my mind - frequent police raids. Now who in their right minds would want to be in the middle of raids? I remember a friend told me once, she was "dvd shopping" and there was a police raid, the owner of the shop she was purchasing from hurriedly closed the door trapping her inside for a couple of hours...:(

That didn't deter me though.. A friend told me in Quiapo you can find the best places to buy fashion jewelry making materials, and photography equipments and I was determined to check out the place. I am really into fashion-jewelry making and my husband is a photo-gadget freak so I could contain myself.

The best place to go there if you intend to shop is from Mondays to Thursdays and Saturday. Friday, its a bit crowded because Black Nazarene Mass every Friday is really jam-packed. Sundays also is a bit crowded and a lot of stores are not open.

This will be a series of posts since I'll be giving details of each Quiapo nook I visit and let me tell you, I found lots of interesting things there. Before I go on, let me just give some tips:

  1. Have a budget and stick to it. It would help if you have smaller bills. There are loads of things you can buy from there and you can easily exceed your budget and this is not the best place to withdraw from ATM's (although there are plenty of ATM's around..)
  2. Be aware of your surroundings and always take hold of your belongings.
  3. When buying along the street, prices are not fixed so haggle for all you're worth.
  4. Canvass first before making purchase. Make rounds first before settling on the seller offering the best price.
  5. Dress simply meaning "no-frills" clothing will be best. Best to go also on sneakers or slip-ons.
  6. Stick to the main roads. Stay where there are most people to avoid getting mugged.
First stop: VILLALOBOS ST. If you're taking public transportation, get down along Quezon Boulevard, in front of Plaza Miranda. Villalobos St. is the street right across the facade of Quiapo Church. This is my favorite street and this is really the " every crafter's haven".

Along Villalobos, you'll find sewing and crafting stores selling threads, cross-stitching and sewing supplies even framing services. For beading enthusiasts and fashion jewelry makers or even retailers, check out Sophie's, Buting-ting, and of course Wellmanson's shop. Get inside 88 Shopping Center also for freshwater pearls, jewelry boxes, ukay-ukay and more beads.

You will also find Chinabank, Unionbank, and Philtrust banks on Villalobos. Aside from shops and banks, this street is also home for street vendors, selling dining, kitchen and cleaning stuff. Find fresh and really cheap fruits and vegetables here. I once bought 5 pcs medium sized carrots here for only P15! Smoked and dried fish from Cavite are also sold along the street. Try the smoked boneless bangus, its absolutely yummy.

Our next stop would be Echague and let's explore Arlegui and Hidalgo Sts.. watch out for my next posts...

From this week onwards I'll be featuring my blog picks for each week. These are blogs that I really like... blogs I regularly visit. There are a lot of blogs out there just waiting to be discovered and it is always my pleasure to search for noteworthy blogs. Some bloggers can be "blogger snobs" (my term :P), they really judge some blogs as pooh pooh or nonsense, but me thinks all bloggers have something to say, in any way they want to say it and that merits respect from fellow bloggers.. I hope, you, dear readers can check out these blogs. I chose them coz I really really enjoy visiting their sites.
