A week ago my father came here from Bicol for some business and he decided to stay with us for a couple of days. We got to spend sometime and we had been visiting some of his friends and went also to some malls.
I just realized my father haven't changed a bit except for the color of his hair and wrinkles on his skin, he still the same dad who used to eat ice cream with us. You see my father has a really sweet tooth and would constantly crave desserts. Any ice cream flavor, he'll go for it.

Imagine me giving a sigh of relief! At last, Bloggerwave remembered to send me payments for the reviews I posted for them. These were posts I submitted and got approval from May 20 - June 13, 2008. I read their FAQ's before and they have clearly stated that payments will be sent 30 days from date of post so those posts should have been paid last July.

Truth is, I took a break from doing reviews for them because of this and I am wary of accepting any opps from them if they are not prompt with payments or if payments cannot be made the least they could do is to inform us after all, that is our hard-earned money.

I have actually forgotten already that Bloggerwave still owed me $40 but three days ago I visited their site and on my dashboard I saw that I still have some amount due. So I decided to email them using their contact form and today I got an 4 emails from Paypal that Yay! Bloggerwave paid me!

I'm really happy :) I know its a small amount but still I worked for that so I deserved to be paid. I know there are bloggers out there who has similar concerns about Bloggerwave. I've googled "bloggerwave payments" and the search results are mostly blogs of bloggers not yet been paid or have just been paid after an xx number of months.

I'm still having a hard time to believe it so here's the proof of payment...

For the past 6 months, I've been experimenting with different ads and advertisers that would work best for my blogs. I have chosen Bidvertiser and had been displaying their ads on this blog, Pinaywifespeaks, CelebrityAdsOnline, Laugh Out Loud, Blogger Template Frenzy and CelebritySphere.

I was interested with the Bidvertiser system of having advertisers bid against each other for your ad space, while their 3rd generation bidding-based ad serving system will always display the highest bidders, those that will generate the maximum revenue for your advertising space. An added attraction is their policy of allowing more than three ads on each page.

Except for the last two sites which are still new and on tweaking stages, all the other sites have a regular daily traffic, 180-200 unique on average. So I had Bidvertiser working on these sites but for the past 6 months nothing was happening and last week I just realized that I was wasting some valuable ad spaces. I mean if I added Project Wonderful ad slots on those spaces I would have been earning even if its just cents. Bidvertiser would probably do well with MMO sites but it wasn't working for me so I had to say goodbye.

Just recently, I removed all Bidvertiser ads and tried out Chitika and in less than a week I was seeing clicks and revenue. Now I wonder what was wrong with Bidvertiser when others like Adsense and Chitika are working fairly well for me?

Yep, I'm bugging my husband to treat me to some fab all inclusive resorts. I just might be able to convince him(lol! imagine me crossing my fingers). You see, for the past three months, hubby has been laboring "furiously" on his dissertation and I, of course, had been so "patient" :) with his perpetual grouchiness, blank stares and mumbled replies to my conversation. Not only that, I've been cooking him healthy meals to keep up his strength, edited some chapters of his work and helped him print out countless revisions. Now that he is all finished and just waiting for his defense, hehe I'm back to bugging him with a vengeance.

Now that he's a bit more relaxed and has some time to spare he's quite easy to convice to go on a short vacation. I grew up near a beach in Albay and I miss my hometown a lot. When he asked me what is my idea of a dream vacation, of course, I'd want to go some resort, a beach.. somewhere where there is nature, water, secluded (I just don't like too many people around when I'm supposed to be relaxing!) and affordable. All-inclusive resorts are just great in saving a big chunk of your vacation costs since you won't be paying separately for other amenities.

Resorts like those in
Negril, Jamaica are my ideal destinations. Jamaica is known for its abundance of beautiful mountain scenery, long stretches of white sand beaches. And the best part? I just love reggae. The rhythm of reggae just seems to alive yet at the same time soothing for me.

I've been digging up a lot of websites and I was just wowed Jamaica has many resorts and among those getting really popular now are those offering adult vacations. Definitely not for faint-hearted but these clothing-optional resorts are just right for those with open minds and the adventure spirit. Well, I have yet to reach that level of open-mindedness and adventurism but for those who already have, it'll definitely be interesting.

When will I get to have that vacation? I dunno but I really wish it will be soon..<3

Last week my internet connection has been really intermittent. I had to repair or clear my cache every 5 minutes or so just to get a connection. I was really pissed off so I called up my internet service provider and they checked my connection. After some checking by their technical support personnel, they said my connection was fine, so they scheduled a personnel to check my antenna.

A day passed and their personnel have yet to call me for the antenna checking schedule, so I called their technical support again and after some runaround I gave the girl hell. I was really pissed off that she couldn't make my connection better. I was so mad
that I cut the phone call short so I could calm down.

My husband then said he'd check my laptop and see if my drivers are all working. And guess what? My LAN driver was not properly installed hence the intermittent connection. So I'm eating my humble pie right now, the problem was really on my end but I blew it off to that technical support personnel. I wasn't able to get her name, but this post is really an apology. I was so sure the problem was with the ISP that I didn't even stop to think if the defect on my end..The lady just listened to me rant and rave, she apologized a couple of times, I mean its her job but I was really a wee bit insensitive..

Geezzz.. I learned my lesson.. I worked for customer service before so I know how it feels...

Today is my father's 78th birthday. I was talking to my mom early this morning and I asked her how are they going to celebrate Pa's birthday. She said, among other things, of course they are cooking pancit guisado..

Pancit guisado, canton, bihon, lomi, palabok and other pancit variants are so common to the Filipino dining table and even if its really Chinese in origin, we Pinoy's managed to make it taste so deliciously Filipino. A typical Filipino would always want a variant of pancit on important days like birthdays, and as for me and my husband, we consider it our comfort food!

Wikipedia says the word pancit is derived from the Hokkien word pian i sit, which literally means something conveniently cooked fast. Well, I think part of it appeal aside from its yummy taste is its easy and fast preparation.

I've been doing some research and was really amazed that Pancit has actually a lot of variations. Most common is pancit bihon and pancit canton.

Pancit bihon is made of very thin rice noodles fried with soy sauce and some citrus (Filipinos usually use kalamansi) and possibly with patis or fish sauce, and some variation of sliced meat and chopped vegetables. The exact bihon composition depends on someone's recipe but usually, Chinese sausage and cabbage are the most basic ingredients in a pancit bihon. Here's a recipe of basic pancit bihon.

Pancit canton is also cooked like pancit bihon the difference is the noodles used. Pancit canton noodles are thicker, round in shape, yellowish in color and no worries , the ones in the market are usually labeled. Want to try your hand cooking it, check out this very visual recipe of pancit canton.

Another Pinoy favorite is pancit sotanghon variant, not really a daily fare but served usually on special occassions. Vermicelli noodle soup with a chicken broth base. It may include some kind of meat and vegetable. A typical sotanghon is made with kalamansi or lemon, sliced straw mushrooms, slivered dark-meat chicken and green onion. Some also uses annatto seeds to lend more color to the soup. Some like it dried out, some prefer it with some soup. Here's the recipe.

Pancit Palabok and Pancit Luglug are essentially the same dish, the difference being primarily in the noodles used in the recipe. Luglug uses a thicker noodle than the traditional bihon of palabok. Both types use a round rice noodle (often specifically labelled for pancit luglug or palabok) smothered with a thick, golden shrimp sauce or other flavored sauce, and topped with: shrimp, chicharon, hard boiled eggs, tinapa flakes, minced green onions.

It's obvious we love pancit. After all, I heard old people saying, it's food for long life..

Jeans made out of sugarcane? It's real! Sugarcane jeans are are a uniquely Japanese denim made from - tadah - sugar cane. For many years Sugar Cane Jeans were a guarded Japanese secret but today the brand is attracting global attention.

The jeans are made from a blend of sugar cane and selvage denim. The cane used is Sweet Sorghum, otherwise known as Sweet Millet. It’s a type of grass grown all over the world for making a molasses-like syrup and animal feed. This unique jeans has a faint sweet smell and may have occasional woody tufts poking out of the fabric!

Sugar Cane Jeans are cut from original and truly outstanding Japanese selvage denim. Japanese selvage denim is arguably the finest in the world. Now this is absolutely interesting. I just hope ants won't suddenly discover what your jeans are made of.. Seriously, if you want to get yourself this unique denim jeans visit www.dimodaclothing.com.

Filipinas are generally conservative but not as conservative as two decades ago. I think more women now are already flirting consciously but subtlety is still the key. While there are women now who are aggressive or take the lead when it comes to the flirting game, I still veer towards the subtle flirting style.

I am not an expert in flirting and my friends would agree to that. I tend to be snobbish when it comes to guys and the more I like the guy the more I clam up. When I was in college I used to think I'd end up being an old maid.I thought I was really hopeless but I was lucky when it comes to friends, one of my best friends was an "expert" in flirting and body language. She once told me, "flirting is fun as long as you do it consciously. If you wanna get close to the guy you like, you don't have to be overly aggressive. Let "your look" do the talking."

What she taught me? Just be myself. Be natural, relax, have fun. Once you are comfortable, then let your natural body language speak for you. Smile and let your eyes do the talking. Let your gaze linger on him. Lol! The first time she told me that I was so apprehensive, but it's worth practicing on. For sure I learned how to give "the look" and my husband is a "victim" of it. But for the record, my flirting techniques are practiced only on my husband. :)

There are many ways to catch the attention of someone you like, be it subtle or affront, its really up to you, whatever technique works for you go for it or better yet try it out with Ultimate Flirting Championship a great idea by Extreme Style by VO5 to check just how good you are at scoring that dream date. Growth of the internet is at an unbelievably fast pace and it is a continuous growth. IT related careers are really viable options for those who have the passion and the interest in working for the information technology field. But interest and passion for IT would not get you the job you want, because this field is highly specialized so the need for the necessary skills is absolute. If you are interested in being a network professional then one of the best option is to get your Cisco certification.

When I went to college I really haven't realized my interest in being an IT professional. I took up a Business Management course at random and I did fairly well and landed a job right after graduating. After a year's experience with my first employer I moved on to work for a large telecommunications company and even if I worked for marketing and customer service, the company allowed us to explore our interests and there I discovered my knack for working on computers, my interest in network design, network security even web development. It was too late for me to realize that I really wanted to work for the IT field.
Because of this interest I made some friends who are already network professionals and I'm really impressed that majority of them have undergone IT certification program, some of which are from Cisco Career Certifications. They say that the advantage of having these certifications is that they are equipped with more specific knowledge relating to their specific jobs, people and the companies they work for have more confidence in their abilities, they are easily considered for promotions and more trainings, and they could land their dream jobs with more ease.

It's probably not too late for me yet, but I would need some time for me to go back to study and realize my dream of working for IT field. Maybe not right now, but sometime soon in the future. As they say, it's never too late to dream and realize it.

The caricature describes my mood perfectly.. I'm trying to think of what to write about but I always come up with zilch! I just noticed when I write and write consistently for a few days, the next day I feel so lazy. At times, grabbing opps and writing reviews just does it for me.

The past few weeks I've been very selective of the opps I grab and write about coz I really don't like squeezing my brains out for things to say about something I am not interested in. My creative juices running out? I hope not and I really doubt it. I should take a few days off from this and I'll be fine.

And another thing making me so melancholic, after doing my blog rounds I read some posts that Google updated page ranks so I checked my blogs, my wordpress blog, Pinaywifespeaks has PR3, Laugh out Loud has PR2, my two new blogs, CelebrityAdsOnline and Template Frenzy both has PR1. That should make me happy right, but :( this blog got slapped with NA/gray good as PR0 ranking. Made me a bit sad, well this is my first ever blog so its special.

So I'll take a rest for a day or two, then I'll be pack to posting with a "vengeance" :o

We're supposed to be moving to our new home in Phnom Penh this July, but my husband's dissertation defense schedule keeps moving itself so instead of being there already we have now September as our house moving month.

I feel so overwhelmed and a bit panicky because aside from helping out my daughter with her first-time to school transition, I'll also have to worry about choosing the right living room, dining room and bedroom furniture. To say that my life would be hectic would be an understatement.

The house there is new with no furnishings yet so we have to start from scratch. After we got married we lived in Phnom Penh just for a few months and here in Manila for the most part so most of our stuff are all accumulated here. Hubby and I have both decided not to ship our furnishings here and just buy new furniture when we get there. Everything would be furnished from scratch so I was thinking of getting some discount furniture for the non-basics or those we wouldn't be using much.

House has 2 bedrooms plus a smaller room originally intended for storage but we've now decided to convert it into a home office and guest room, so I am also thinking of hunting down good convertible furniture to maximize the space of the small room.

I am now starting a list of stuff we need to purchase immediately and those that can wait. I think its also a good idea to wait for big furniture sales which usually happens during holidays or other sale seasons.

Hmm, I'll have a lot to do for sure by that time and I suppose I won't be able to blog much but hopefully I could still update my sites once in a while..
