I found this featured in one of my favorite home design blogs - Freshome.  A three bedroom apartment designed in modern style but made more interesting with a mix of vintage elements. I love the furnishings, obviously picked with care and how it was arranged. It looks sooo liveable, and the select vintage decor adds a more interesting spice to the whole thing.

It just shows now that there can be marriage between contemporary and vintage! Personally, I find white walls and modern, contemporary styles much more appealing when mixed with something old and vintage-y. That's why I heart this interior a whole lot!

Styling Idea for Your Garden

I just got back from my parents place in the Philippines and it was great soaking up on my mom's huge garden. We had been discussing what new things to do with her garden and I suggested she add  garden arbors to lend a more romantic feel to the area where she has lots of ferns and orchids. The she can plant  flowering vines there!

Adding arbors to a garden just gives it a more stylish and cozy feel. It's decorative of course. I can't help but think of romance and weddings when I see a garden with a nice looking new england arbors! They do lend a formal garden allure to a garden of any size. Aside from being decorative, arbors are also functional. Take the photo above, the arbor also functions as shade, and would make great trellis for climbing plants! Imagine having lots of scented flowering vines all over your arbor?

Garden arbors comes in a great variety of materials and styles. Popular ones are wood, metal and vinyl. And in a whole variety of sizes. When picking one, keep the layout of your garden in mind, the size that would fit and how strong your arbor should be. In the case of my mom, our place is oftentimes visited by typhoons, so best she pick a metal arbor...

Finally, after eons I'm back to updating this blog. I know I feel like I've been neglecting my blogging duties but I was without much choice. I went back to the Philippines to help care for my ailing father. He sadly passed away a few weeks ago. Now, I'm back to Phnom Penh and home.

I got really swapped with lots of housework and it has also been nerve wracking to leave our house for months without proper security. When I was not here, hubby and my daughter usually stay with my in-laws. So that left our house all alone.

We did ask our neighbor to have a look at the house from time to time, but I know that is inadequate. Which made me think its high time we install a good home alarm system. While some might consider this a luxury, for me though an adequate home security systems is a necessity. Particularly since we always travel, and the city is now booming and getting too crowded for my liking. Just because we don't have millions in cash stashed in our closets doesn't mean we don't need to think of home security.

Having this in mind, I did some research about various home security systems and I was surprised by the variety of choice and their affordability. I'm pretty much impressed with ADT home security though. I wonder if this is available in my locality? But if it is available in your place, I would recommend having a look at this system. Every home is worth securing after all.
