Cityonfoot: Pinaywife Venturing to Quiapo Manila Part 3

It took sometime for me to post this, my last installment for cityonfoot article on Quiapo Manila. I have a long list of drafts and post ideas but I've been a little busy these past few days.. Hehe enough excuses!

We've already wandered along Villalobos St. in Part 1 and Echague, Arlegui, Ilalim ng Tulay, Norzagaray and Hidalgo St. in Part 2. Now let's wander along Hidalgo St., (the other part adjacent to Plaza Miranda (# 6 on the map). Building to the right with Greenwich and Jollibee fastfoods, this is also a great place to hunt for MP3/MP4 players, cellphones, swarovski crystals and ready to wear clothes.

Walk along Hidalgo St., (this place can be a little crowded..) and you'll see lots of fresh produce at extremely low prices and assorted knicknacks. You'll also see some stalls selling ukay-ukay or second-hand clothing.

Most notably, along Hidalgo you'll find several photography related shops. This place is considered the mecca for photography equipment. Get accessories like flashes, tripods, lenses, batteries and more.

At the end of Hidalgo St. is the SM Department Store's (#9) Clearance Outlet, and the street perpendicular to Hidalgo and leading to Carriedo, you'll find a hodge podge of more vendors of fruits and knicknacks.

Now walk along Carriedo and you'll still encounter Isetann Carriedo and endless shops selling assorted goods. This is also where you'll find the NBI Clearance Center so expect a lot of people especially on weekdays. Browse the shops selling things like pillowcases, curtains, ref covers, cheap slippers, ready made clothes, toys, dvd's etc. Check out the stalls near Isetann for personalized mugs at P50 only. If you're also on the lookout for "abaya" for Muslims, you'll find it here in Carriedo. Chowking, Jollibee, KFC can be found here if you want to grab a bite.

End your Quiapo visit with the Black Nazarene Church.. For me Quiapo is really unique. Its a contradiction of things. It's where the religious and the mystical exist side by side.
