City On Foot: Flower Market - Dangwa

Need flowers? If you're having a party, a wedding, if you want to perk up your house with some flower arrangements or if you simply want to feast your eyes with beautiful blooms, then head over to Dangwa Flower Market! Best to go there at night since flower supplies are arriving from the farms from 9pm onwards. You'll get the freshest flowers and the best buys in terms of prices.

We regularly head over to Dangwa since my cousins just love making flower arrangements for weddings and other occasions. Recently, we had been preparing for Holy Week Procession and we had to decorate our family's "poon" so we went over to Dangwa to get flowers.

Going over there is just worth it! Imagine we bought 5 bunches of pink medium anthurium for a measly P100! That's about 60 pcs.. Sorry about the pics, its kinda blurry I just took them with m pencam.

Pre-arranged floral bouquets like this goes for P180 to P250. (you can still make "tawad")

Stargazers..my favorite bloom..

Roses not yet packed or sorted out are cheaper. (stores located near Andalucia St. part). You can get long stemmed ones at only P80 per dozen.

If you don't want the hassle of making the arrangements yourself, you can have them arrange it for you at minimal costs . I was even amused that most of the florists here are really "macho" guys and they make really pretty flower arrangements!

How to get there? Take jeepneys with DIMASALANG signs. Landmark? When you get a few meters from the corner of Laong Laan and A.H. Lacson and you see a street brimming with flowers and leaves, then get down and start feasting your eyes!

We saved a fortune in our wedding by buying all our flowers from Dangwa. My Mom and her friends (the Handmaids from the Sacred Heart Parish in Kamuning) did all the flower arrangements for me. :)
