Get Paid To Drink?

I was browsing Yahoo News when I came across a news article entitled Getting Paid to Drink. Interesting right? I found it interestingly odd yet endearing.

Its all about Mike Hammond who advertised in his village post office for a drinking companion for his 88-year old father Jack during his regular visits to a southern England pub from a nursing home. He ended up being shifting through lots of applications.

How much is the salary? 7 pounds ($14) per hour plus expenses. Who got the plum job? Hammond decided on job-sharing and divided the work load to a retired doctor and a former military man.

Hammond told Time that his father, Jack would now be going to the pub several times a week, three times with his new drinking buddies, and twice with him.His reason for all this, he says, "I want to give him some of his old life back."

Nice and odd gesture. :P
