Yes, I'm living in a tropical country right now, but nowhere near where its cool and where I could run to the beach and cool down. It's scorching hot here in Phnom Penh, Cambodia and just a couple of days ago, a friend told me the temperature went up to 41 degrees Celcius! Unbelievably hot, that is so this is definitely not a tropical paradise, far from it!

I don't actually need to be in a sauna to sweat it up. And the whole day I kept wishing I was through some caribbean hotels cooling off and hanging out with a drink and occasionally taking a dip in the cool waters.

So guess what I ended up doing for a few hours again? Searching for all inclusive hotels somewhere where its near the beach or with a massive pool, fabulous room service plus all amenities that I would need to get my stress level down. I'm positively salivating after those Ocho Rios hotels! I am imagining myself cooling down in those enormous and lovely pools, getting a total spa pampering treatment, trying out some water sports, or playing a few rounds of golf or tennis..

Hmm, at this time I would just settle for daydreaming about going to my tropical paradise, but someday soon I will..

Tips on Hiring Remodeling Contractors

Remodeling or renovating a home is a huge step. Not only will you be changing the look of your home but a big amount is also involved. Also once its done, its done, unless you have truckloads of money to remove everything again and have it done again. I'm pretty sure everyone wants remodeling done well and as quick as possible.

One of the biggest decision a home owner has to make when remodeling is hiring a general contractor. Just imagine yourself buying a product, of course you'd want to get the one with the best quality and at a good value. Its the same thing with hiring a contractor, you want to get the best quality service without also breaking the bank. How do you accomplish this? By hiring a professional and going local.

When I say going local, I mean looking around the available services near you. Just because a contractor is located in a big city doesn't mean they are the best choice for you. If they are far from you, that will also add a big chunk to the cost of remodeling your home. So, take a look at the services offered in your locality, the internet is one great tool to search for example you are living in Calgary, then you can do a search for Calgary Home Renovations.

Once you have some names and numbers of contractors on hand, then its time to verify if they are licensed. There are a lot of unlicensed contractors so beware as this can be a recipe for disappointment, so make sure you are dealing with a legitimate contractor. Also ask for references. Check out their previous work, if they allow you can contact their previous clients. Its also a great help if they are personally recommended by people you know and trust.

Have a meeting with the contractor, and gauge how you get along with them and how they deal with clients. You must be comfortable working with them and be able to communicate well with them otherwise, things would not run as smoothly and oftentimes expectations not met.

Talk specifics, the number of crew you need and the specialized services you need. If you are renovating a particular area in your house say your bathroom or your kitchen, you might want to have a look at who among the remodeling providers in your area specializes on these kinds of renovations. Searching for a much more specific contractor, eg. Kitchen Renovation Calgary, may bring a much better listing compared to general terms. Classified ads, home remodeling magazines, newspapers can also be a good source for provider listings.

And of course, before jumping into your remodeling project, know what you want. Have specifics in mind, as to the plan, how do you want your home to turn up and also have a budget to work around with..

In case you're wondering, no, I'm not pregnant. Not yet, anyway. I'm betting the next question in your mind would be, "Then, why are you looking for plus size maternity clothes? Well, because I personally find them so comfy!

I'll let you in on a little secret, those plus size maternity clothing I used to wear when I was pregnant with Chinks, I still wear them almost everyday! But only at home.Lol! Though I was hardly plus size that time, I found myself shopping for plus size maternity clothes because I love having a lot of room. I also live in a tropical country so it could get really hot and sticky and wearing clothes that is a little roomy makes the heat more bearable.

Anyway, I'd been browsing for online sites for maternity clothes recently because, yes! we plan to have another child. And the fashionista in me refuses to wear not-so-stylish clothes so I've been browsing sites selling plus size maternity clothes so I get a feel of what's available. Also some of my friends recommends checking out online shops selling plus size clothes if in case those maternity styles doesn't appeal to me..

Another friend is asking why I am being so picky when it comes to maternity clothes. Well, just because I'm pregnant doesn't mean I should look lousy! Take the photo above for instance, don't you think she looks fab and sexy even if she's pregnant? So lucky for us there's some fab maternity fashion that we could choose from now. I just googled and found lots of sites specializing in fashion for mom-to-be... On with the search.

I'm thinking of giving hubby a gift, no special occasion really, I just feel like returning his kindness. He just recently bought me a new washing machine, out of the blue, and a pair of shoes, and now he wants to buy me a rattan bucket seat so I can be comfy when I am doing my crocheting... I know I'm lucky! This leads me into a dilemma, what should I give him? I'm thinking of getting him something for his tool box.. He likes his tools and gadgets and one thing he considers an essential to any house or any house tool kit is a good knife. He tells me having a quality and handy one is important especially since we also like camping and hiking so he needs one he could bring around.

Well, its multi-purpose and there are lots of knives that are very handy and right now hubby likes Spyderco Knives. Hmm, maybe I could give that to him as a gift? But I sure don't know how to choose and buy a good knife. I understand that for collectors, quality is top most and with this comes a little steep price. I'm currently browsing through The Blade Shop, for some ideas and they do have a pretty extensive selection.

I was initially  thinking of giving him a dual-sim phone since he is always carting around 2 phones but since he's really into tools, then giving him a set of top quality blades for his tool collection will be a good idea. Though I must admit, browsing that online shop makes me dizzy with the choices. I didn't realize that there are so many kinds of knives and I am seriously at a loss which one to pick. Hmmm, maybe I should do a little more research..

Avid fashionista? No, I'm not! In fact, I don't really follow each and every fashion trends that come out. Well, mostly because some of it would look ridiculous on me, some totally out of this world, while some others are nice enough but really just doesn't suit my personality. You could say, my fashion style is all about simplicity, comfort and what really shows who I am.

Nonetheless, I still like keeping abreast of what's the latest in fashion as well as what's the latest tips I could get about beauty. It's a great help when it comes to shopping and personal care when you know at least what is going on and what is available. Though, like me you don't have to follow all trends that come out, knowing what is trending and the latest beauty news will give you hints so at least you can incorporate some bits of what's the latest on your wardrobe as well as on your beauty regimen. At the very least you can be IN, without going over the top and screaming, 'hey! I'm a die hard fashionista!"

The best places for me to find what's the latest on fashion and beauty is still on the internet as well as fashion magazines. Online, there are countless websites and personal blog sites where you can find very nice and up to date information. You'd actually be spoiled for choices when it comes for hunting fashion information online, simply type away your search on Google and you'll get dizzy with those array of choices. Browse on..

I was browsing Notcot, one of my fave sites for trends, designs, and what-nots when this caught my eye - Miya Shinma's Perle Perfume! So why did it catch my attention? The perfumed spheres are packed in a way that you'll be able to tuck it in different corners of your house.

You can pack it in smaller sachets, in small dishes, beside your tealights, well the options are virtually unlimited. Plus you can leave it to scent your place for as long as 5 months then you can just refresh the spheres with essential oils. Take about value!

And I love the packaging too! Perfect for gift idea for housewarming parties..

Hmm, I've been checking my blogging posting frequency here and I know I've been a little amiss. I had been targeting at least 20-25 posts per month. At the rate I'm going I'm not about to reach that this month. But I have reasons hehe always why I've been a little lax. You see, I've been doing some 'inventory' of my blog sites. I realized I have several blogs I've been ignoring for sometime already and also some more domains in need of setting up.

Since I realized I enjoy blogging and that you can actually earn from it, I went at it full blast. Too bad there are things that easily distracts me like Facebook hehe..I've been contemplating just hiring a custom web development company but thinking about the costs made me think twice. For now, I can't afford to do that. Perhaps later. All earnings I have now are for reinvesting and getting more sites up to provide a steady stream of income in the future.

So for the past week that's what I had been doing. Revamping old sites to be up and running and updated again. And setting up new ones. I'm quite happy coz the two new domains I have has been easily indexed and in just a month now has a PR0 (i know its 0 but just the same it means its indexed and cached yahoo!) and another one PR1! All my other sites I have also maintained its PR..

I target all sites to be up and running by June-July 2010 and hopefully by the end of the year all of the new one's will be earning their keep. Which led my husband now to ask what's next? I'm sure I'll have my hands occupied updating these sites and I also plan to write articles in advance and just schedule the posting so its all semi-automated and so I could also have some time to do some other projects.

Hubby suggests I start my own web development company since I love setting up sites. A good idea, but I have yet a lot to learn and I will jump to it when I''m ready. I'm also thinking of specializing in Blog Set Up and Maintenance since blogging is really gaining a lot of ground on the web. We'll see. For now I'm doing research and reading more for some web design inspiration and learning more about CSS. I also intend to be at least proficient in other CMS platforms preferably Joomla and Drupal.

Whenever you purchase something, of course you'd want to have the best value for the amount you are shelling out. With gazillion products and confusing array of choices out in the market today, getting value for your money can proved to be a little confusing and difficult too. That is why, I always go with ample research and reading consumer reviews when I am purchasing items especially big ticket items. Just as we would search for movie reviews before heading to the movie theaters or buying a DVD, it is just as worthwhile to read product reviews before buying.

I also like frequenting a products consumer forum to get a feel of the reactions of a new product. It is also where I could really read honest product reviews from people who have actually used and tested the products. Its also a great place to see comparisons with similar products so you can have valuable product knowledge before taking the jump and making the purchase.

Earning money is hard to best to give the effort to choose the best products to buy using those hard earned money. Information is readily available, all it takes is a little initiative on our part to search for the right product reviews to aid us in making our buying decisions.

Tips on Buying Kitchen and Bath Cabinets

One of the most important fixtures you'd be wanting to have in your home are your cabinets! From bath cabinets to kitchen cabinets, you'd be wanting to buy one's or have cabinets customized to suit your storage and organizing needs as well as blend with the decor/theme you have picked for each area.

When you buy kitchen cabinets, or other storages for your home, it is advised to do a lot of research and consultation with experts so as you can get the best value for the money you'll be shelling out. For one, it is a big expense, and two it is a semi-permanent fixture. It is not something you buy today and next month you can change.

Here's some simple tips for buying cabinets:

  • Measurements are very important. Measure your kitchen dimensions or have a professional measure it for you. Make sure you determine how much space you have for your cabinets. Take note of the height, width, length of each space you want to place your cabinets in.
  • Browse around furniture shops or online cabinet stores so you can have ideas in terms of model, styles, materials, and prices. If you want to shop online, take particular care with the dimensions and compare it with the measurements of your space.
  • If the online furniture shop has a physical store nearby, why not check it out so it'll be easier for you to compare the dimensions, the styles and which colors will blend in well with your current home decor.
  • Have a budget. If you are putting on cabinets on your bath or kitchen, the cabinets eat up at least 50% of your remodeling or building budget. Stick to your chosen budget when shopping for the cabinets.
  • You have several options on what type of cabinet purchase to go with. Whether you buy online or your local furniture supply, you can choose from, (1) stock - ready-made cabinets; (2) custom/semi customized.
    • Stock cabinets/ready-made - the cheapest, but you have limited choices in terms of style, dimensions, color, material etc.
    • Semi-custom - usually made from factories but with a lot more customization options;
    • Custom - expensive but made from scratch to fit with kitchen/bath layout.
  • You can also add in other cabinet accessories if the budget and space permits. You can have pullout shelves, wine racks, dividers etc.
  • If you are unsure of which particular style you'd want to incorporate in your kitchen or bath, then magazines and online home decor sites are an excellent starting point for ideas.
