This takes sharing and space saving to another level. I kinda like the idea..Called the "Rotate It" designed by Sherry Ann, this clever piece of innovation is simply a bookshelf rotating inside a common wall. I must say, if you are getting tired of staring at the same boring space in your wall, have this installed and you wall will start looking differently with each rotation of those shelves..

Thrifty homemakers know that coupons really make big savings. For a very long time already, I've been  using different ways to trim the cost of groceries, home purchases. Ways like enrolling in rewards programs in places I frequently buy to cutting out coupons from magazines, coupon mailers, food packages and also from printed from online sources. It can actually amount to big savings specially if you tend to purchase a lot and also on bulk items.

The good thing is that coupons aren't limited now to just groceries, you can actually find a lot of coupons for other purchases like computers, softwares, accessories, toys and here what you'll really love - home decor! An example is Home Depot promo codes. HomeDepot.com is one place where you can shop till you drop for appliances, building materials, home furnishing, kitchen items, tools and hardware and a lot more stuff you need to have in your home. Just imagine if you have one coupon, say a 10% discount coupon or even just a free shipping coupon! That's a huge cut already on your costs and can now easily fit in that extra cutlery set and other items from Home Depot that you want to have..

All it needs is a little work, from browsing online and checking out the latest promotion codes or coupons to use or just clipping and cutting those savings coupons from mags and newspapers and other sources. It might take a little work, but imagine the savings you can get from them. Little savings can add up to big  savings in the long run.

Few months ago I had my hair straightened here in Phnom Penh. It was a bit pricey but I love it! 4 months and counting and my hair is still super straight. It has gotten really long and I had it styled layered. I adore how it was styled and now it so easy for me to manage. The upside also for paying for the 'perma-straight' is that I could tie my hair, have it styled without losing its straightness. The stylist also told me that it will still be wavy though once the new hair grows out and I'd have to straighten it again.

But, right now its summer time so its really hot and I'm considering getting a shorter do' so I'm browsing around for the latest short hairstyles that would best suit my face and frame. Chinks and Hi-ace suggested I should look for some curly hair ideas so I would really have totally different look since I have always been sporting straight hair since well.. since forever..

I kinda like this short hairstyle..What do you think?

or this romantic curls doesn't seem like a bad idea. In fact, it looks good! The question is, will it suit me?

I don't want to have it styled on a whim because I tried that before and I ended up looking like a disaster zone so right now I'm checking out the trends and some beauty information online. And in case you're wondering, yes I'm vain lol!

I've been doing some blog hopping this afternoon when I stumbled across a post of another Filipina blogger. It's all about monetizing her blog by writing reviews, opinions and surveys for products, services and other websites.

Paid reviews

So, I got curious. I haven't been really actively pursuing to monetize this site. I only have Google Adsense plus I have a couple of review companies I write for but lately I tended to be picky about what I write for. Another thing is that this blog is hosted with blogspot and not having my own domain at times work against applying to join those review sites. So when I checked if LinkFromBlog accepts blogger blogs, I was pleased to learn that yes it does! Not only Blogger hosted blogs, but other free platforms as well..

Signing up is free so I jumped on the chance and registered my blogger blogs. Now I'm looking forward to some monetary returns from the blogs I maintain..

When I was younger I scoffed at the idea of keeping remembrances, tributes etc. I thought it was a corny idea specially when my parents would run after me for photos, videos to record important events in our lives. I didn't really 'get it', I mean what's the big fuss about having photos, keepsakes anyway? I guess I didn't really understand that my parents just wanted those memories to be kept alive and also a way for them to be remembered.

Me, when I was like 6?

It was only when I got older and specially when I had a family of my own that I completely understood. Yes, time is really fleeting but every moment you spend with somebody you love is special. I now understand why people are obsessed with taking photos and remembrances of events in their lives, travels, events etc. It's simply because you want to hold a bit of that memory in your hands. Something that you can still see, can constantly revisit and remember how it was.

My daughter Chinks with her Lola (my mom). Chinks 5th birthday..

My parents efforts to capture important moments in our lives are now well appreciated. Though things weren't so high tech that time, they still managed to collect lovely photos of me, my sister and my brother. Birthdays, graduations, trips even some school certificates, cards I made when I was a kid, drawings etc.  Well, everything is there and I simply can't describe the happy feelings and thoughts I get whenever I see them. And since these days,  things are getting so techie and digital, we plan to archive our memorabilia, have then in digital format and place it in an online storage safe box. There are lots of services like this already, there are free file sharing and storage companies, but if you want to get premium service then there are also online safe boxes like My Heart Will.

Dad and Chinks, Angkor Wat 2004

So now I'm also into taking photos and videos, keeping letters, cards and cute notes from my daughter and hubby. And since I'm also into scrap booking, these make excellent materials and I also have plans of creating my own personal page to organize and archive all these keepsakes I've collected over the years. I know now my daughter doesn't know it yet, but in the future she'll be happy to see and reminisce all the moments we had..

It's a perfect fit! That's what I could say about South Korean designer Tak Euy Sung 's f(x) stools.I guess its the end product of some mathematical equation and there really is no doubt that the stool is pretty easy on the eyes. But I do have to ask, what is the purpose of dividing it? Is it merely for the design? I doubt if one can be comfortable using just half of the stool..

I've been pretty quiet this past few days because a lot has happened which led me to ponder on marriage and how much work it takes to make one last a lifetime. No, my husband and I are fine, we are still very much together, and were not having marriage problems. Thankfully. We are now married for almost eight years and has been together a lot longer than that. It wasn't easy, especially with two of us in an interracial marriage with different cultures, languages, and living in a place far away from what I call home.

But this post isn't really about hubby and me, its more about a very close friend of mine. I won't be dropping names because I do care a lot about her privacy. My friend and her husband has been married for about six years already but they knew each other a lot longer than that. On the outside, their marriage looked great. They were financially well off and stable, with investments here and there, travel occasionally, no kids though. Then the guy got an offer to work abroad which he accepted. The money was simply hard to resist, and they got into what some people term as 'commuter marriages' with the wife staying back home in the Philippines because she had a career of her own but just visiting the husband a few times per year.

I guess the distance, lack of communication would really wear down a marriage. They just suddenly felt themselves growing further and further apart with their visits getting less and less frequent. My friend refused to accept that their marriage was going downhill so she quit her job, joined her husband, even considered joining a marriage retreat, but for some reason everything failed. She went home, but refusing to give up she went back to her husband, only to find out that some other woman have already taken her place.

Sad, that is really a sad thing. When you say goodbye to something, it always hurts. Especially something as big as marriage. My friends experience have made me resolve to work on our marriage a lot more. Or maybe I'm scared something like that would happen. Marriage, its not really all about happy endings, but more about everything in between, the bonding times, sharing ups and downs, having fights and making up, treating each other with care and respect. The past few years of marriage has taught me this..It's about being together and staying together..

We can never foretell the future, but hubby and I had both made the promise to try to make the marriage work and keep the romance alive. For our daughter, and more so for ourselves and our promise.

Most of the time I prefer bright, light and airy interiors. Bright and light areas in the house creates the illusion of a bigger space and personally I find it much more easier to breathe especially for living and kitchen areas. Bedrooms are a different thing though, I find it more relaxing to have a bit of darker furnishings here. Anyway, this post is about adding some gleam and brightness to your home.

One is to use light paint colors, like whites, beige, off white..This would easily brighten up the room and makes it appear bigger. Another trick is to use white and bright lighting. Also make use of mirrors, as this reflects light and lets it bounce throughout the room.

Another good idea is to use stainless steel home decor. I like this idea of incorporating stainless steel items to the living area as well as the kitchen. Take for instance, this blomus stainless steel fireplace accessories would definitely add a touch of brightness as well as modern elegance to your living area.

As for the kitchen, feel free to add stainless steel flatware or how about adding one of these blomus stainless steel wall mounted wine rack? It'll make a very interesting as well as functional addition to your kitchen or bar area.

While you're at it, you might want to add  stainless steel mailboxes to add some gleaming brightness to your outdoor area or if you have a garden area, why not add some of these polished garden globes as your garden accent?

We do. Seriously. Though, there are times we forget about loving Swensen's but that's mostly during the cold/rainy season. When summer comes around we're always flocking over to Swensen branches around Phnom Penh.

When I first visited Phnom Penh in 2004 I used to lament the fact that I couldn't eat the ice creams and yummy desserts I got used to. Though there were Magnolia and Selecta ice creams as well as other local brands available in the supermarkets, still the flavors were limited to vanilla and chocolate so my taste buds were left craving for more.

Thankfully, when we came back last 2008, I saw Swensen's franchises all over Phnom Penh. Me, Chinks and hubby love ice cream and we had made their Sovanna Mall branch our frequent hangout. In this place, really 'Happiness never melts..' at least that's true especially for Chinks who is always on the high whenever she gets to eat her all-time favorite sticky chewy chocolate ice cream scoop. Even me, I have my regular, the usual thing I'd order.. what else but a sinful banana split?

And that's exactly what I had again this afternoon. It was sticky hot, so we made a beeline again for Swensen's in Sovanna. Hmmm, yummy, pure heaven. Though now I'm a little guilty I've consumed all that calories again. Maybe I'll just add 15 more minutes jumping rope to my exercise routine..

And oh, there are times when I think eating in this ice cream parlor is getting to heavy on my wallet (what! with 4 of us going there almost every other day..) its also a nice alternative to buy ice cream in gallons from the supermarket. And thank goodness, now they have more choices. Lucky Supermarket even has Haagen-Dazs and other brands. So whenever we crave frozen sweets, we could easily stock up..
