Chef! My best friend and I had been talking about our childhood and we asked each other what were our "grown-up" dreams when we were in grade school. My best friend who is quite a performer and a fashion plate wanted to be a movie star or a singer. As for me, when I was little I wanted to be a chef!

My father is a very good cook and so is my uncle. They were not chef's but this made me want to wear chef's
aprons when I grow up. I imagined myself cooking up really good food and serving people. If people would like the taste of the food I made then they would keep coming back and perhaps make me earn a lot.

Another reason I wanted to be a chef is that I thought their uniforms look neat! I always thought wearing a chef's hat,
aprons, staying in the kitchen and getting creative with cooking is really cool. Unfortunately, I outgrew this dream and since I was young I had the excuse of being fickle-minded.

After wanting to be a chef, I wanted to be teacher, next I wanted to be a computer programmer, then an architect or an interior designer, finally I decided I want to manage my own business so I took up a business management course. I have no regrets though, but come to think of it I could still go back to school and be a chef!

When I was a kid I wasn't much a fan of athletic outdoor games. I would always fall flat on my face whenever I joined soccer, football games. Even traditional Filipino games like "patintero", "luksong tinik", chinese garter, I could only play at mediocre levels. So I convinced myself I am more suited to mental games hehe :) like puzzles, chess, scrabble, games of the general, video games etc. I felt like if I can't be good in one field, I'd have to be better at another.

Truth is, I wanted to be good at both and since at that age my ego was kinda sensitive I really was really trying hard to be good at both but I always end up excelling in indoor games. If video games were prevalent that time, I think I would have been addicted.

Now that I have a daughter, I feel so blessed she's quite an active and athletic child. I encourage her a lot to play outside and she also gets some time off to play video games at home. Playing dominoes, boards, puzzles and video games are just some of the bonding moments we share in our family.

Screenlife has a new Disney Bingo DVD video game we could all play as a family. When my kid grows up I'd like her to recall nice bonding memories we had and she can have this if we spend sometime with her doing things we both enjoy doing.

For moms and dads out there who are on the lookout for enjoyable videos to play with their children, visit Amazon.com or Drugstore.com and get your copy Disney Bingo DVD game.

Just recently I came across a new website weviews community and I had fun browisng and searching which websites people like, which ones they don't like. TalkReviews is an new place on the net where web visitors, blog readers can express their opinions about a site.

I've seen a lot of site reviews online but most of these sites are reviewed by site experts, online money making gurus and experts in different niches. Their reviews are really valuable but equally valuable are the inputs and insights of regular blog readers. It would be really be interesting to know what ordinary folks think about our websites. User feedback is usually where we would get hints on how to improve how a site is presented, its functionality, its appeal, the service it provides etc.

TalkReview also provides updated traffic rankings, domain links, link stats. The sites are organized in categories like shopping/retail, arts/entertainment, top 500, news/information, travel and sports.

Most mom today hold jobs or would still need to constantly move around even if they have a baby. I travel frequently and when I had my daughter I used to bring her around with me. Traveling short distances is easy but when I had to travel long distances or when I need to stand on lines for a long time carrying her can be difficult and besides I don't think she would be comfortable.

One of the best purchases I ever made was my baby carriers. When my daughter was nine months old, we had to go to a long trip and with the baby carrier she slept during most of the trip. Believe me, if you're constantly on the move with your baby, this is one of the best things you can purchase to help you manage things. It adds mobility, free's your hand to do other things, your baby is comfortable too and it help you balance you baby's weight easing up potential backpains and it keeps baby closer to you.

Baby carriers actually comes in variety of styles and the designs are getting more and more versatile. Baby ring slings are a good choice for their flexibility, fashionable designs, they are a great help specially if you are breasfeeding, and they are soft and comfortable for babies. Other baby carrier choices are baby wraps, pouches, and buckled baby carriers. Choose the style that best suit you and keep your baby's comfort foremost when you make the choice.

A new online friend, Bingkee, tagged me with "8 Random Things About Me". Do visit her site. She's worth reading over and over again. In case you're wondering, the beautiful lady on the left is me.. I mean my avatar.. Haha..

I've actually done a tag similar to this a few months ago but I don't mind writing up another round of 8 things about me..

  • I am a lucky bargain hunter. My friends would always "coerce" me to go shopping with them coz I always discover the best finds. I think my intuition and fashion sense are at optimum levels when I am in Divisoria or in Ukay-Ukay shops. It takes my friends a long time sorting out to find nice items but it takes me minutes just to unearthen a great bargain.
  • I like naming things and people. My notebook is "Pindot" - (me thinks, its not very original), my mobile phone is "Azul", my digi-cam is called "Slate, my coffee cup "Orange Spills". I name my bags, jeans, accessories and I'm planning to name my shoes. I call hubby "Hi-ace", my daughter "Chinita" or "Pikachu",
  • I collect underwear. I buy stuff almost everyweek, I literally have hundreds of undies I haven't used, most of them still in their original packages. For some reason I feel happy to think that if I need to have a new one, I could have it readily. Hubby says it's possible my mom's obsession with collecting undies, bedsheets, towels, pillowcases etc is rubbing off me.
  • I love to travel and see places and I'm more of the backpacker type. Whenever I go to a new place I like taking walks on their markets, watch the locals do their thing. Yes its great to hang out in posh places but you rarely see the heart of a country or place in there. Walking on the streets, eating in places they patronize, visiting their markets really gives me a glimpse to their way of life, their culture and traditions. I like visiting places with really exotic cultures. I still have a long list of places to go, among them Africa, some parts of Europe, Nepal, Laos, India, Iran..
  • Hubby says I'm exhibiting signs of obsessive compulsive behaviour. Me thinks he could be right :) Whenever I decide on something, like learning HTML or learning Joomla on my own so I could revamp the looks and funtionalities of my sites, I won't stop until I get it. I'm thinking its not so good to have too much focus like that coz I ended up not sleeping well. Even when I'm doing something else I end up thinking of ways and means to do what I need to do.
  • I don't like eating sweets. I could eat dessert occassionaly but to eat it in great amounts just makes me want to turn green. Most of my family likes sweets so its not rare that the fridge has cakes, ice cream but it just kills my appetite to eat them.
  • I'm a vain person but for all my vanity I don't know how to put on make-up I mean complete make-up. I know how to mix and match colors but I'm useless at applying it. I know only how to apply thin shades of lipstick, eye shadow. If there is a need to apply foundation, mascara, and blush I run to my cousin otherwise I feel like I would end up looking like a clown.
  • I'm trying my hand at photography. I find it so interesting and aside from my computer, my camera is my other best buddy. It's one of the reasons why I'm working "a lot" hehe. I wanna get myself a Nikon D40 for starters.
Now I tag 8 people.. It'll be great to know more about these fab bloggers..
  1. Joy
  2. MommaWannabee
  3. Anne
  4. Tere
  5. Lisa
  6. Ellen's Tiny Treasures
  7. CC's Online Sanctuary
  8. Coriander Dreams

Simple rules:
1. Each player starts with eight random facts/habits about themselves.
2. People who are tagged need to write their own blog about their eight things and post these rules.
3. At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names.
4. Don't forget to leave them a comment telling them they're tagged, and to read your blog.

Not me. My daughter said that. Hubby and I had been looking around for some house plans and we always ask our 5-year daughter for suggestions. She has two. She wants a balcony and she wants a fireplace. Lol! I told her were going to live in the tropics so we won't need to install gas fires or other fireplace fixtures.

I was curious as to why she thought it would be nice to have a fireplace in our home. She says its warm and she likes the lights from the fire. She said she watched some cartoons with houses with real fireplaces and it looks really nice.

What she said is true and I agree with her.. Fireplaces really does lend a warm glow to a room and sets a mood. I've noticed that homes with fireplaces certainly have a warm ambiance and just makes me want to snuggle and sleep when its cold. Fireplaces not only enhance a rooms total look but basically it keeps the room warm. It could also bring a sense of style

If we could live in someplace cold, electric fires would be my choice. I like electric fixtures because truth is I don't like messy stuff and it has the added benefit of being able to move it to another location. Of course I will choose a fireplace that will match the total look of my room.

Isn't it wonderful to fantasize? There are time I enjoy thinking about what if's and possibilities. Haha! I did explain to my daughter why we can't install one fireplace when we build our new home. She understands now that fireplaces are really for cold places so she's not insisting anymore. For now her "balcony" is in the plan so at least she gets one of her wishes and she's happy with it.

Aromatherapy Spa
I am so addicted to spa's. When I'm stressed out or simply need to relax I usually head over to my favorite spa to have some treatments. There are also times when I am on an adventurous mood, I try out other spa's just to compare services.

There are several things that stops other people from getting started with spa treatments. One thing, it can be pricey. But there are already spa's who offer services at lower costs and their services are still great. One spa I tried with reasonable prices and really accessible to most locations (they are located mostly in malls) is Nature's Way Aromatherapy Spa. Prices are not sky high and their foot spa's are great. Body Tune Thai Massage (also located in malls) also offer great massages and body treatments at affordable prices. If prices are your concern, do some spa canvassing first and see which one would best suit your budget.

Another concern that stops other people from booking that spa appointment is that they don't know exactly what they will get when they have spa treatments. Here's the most common spa treatments you can avail of.
  • Massage. I keep asking my cousin to go with me to the spa and have a massage but she keeps declining and I asked her the reason why - she's scared of undressing. Massage treatments of course would require you to undress but you are free to keep your undergarments and most also provide shorts for you to wear. If your concern is whether you will have a male or female masseuse, then don't worry you can request whichever you prefer. The usual massage treatment would be for an hour or more for a head to toe massage. A lot of spa services also offers sauna bath before the massage. Enjoy it! Its a really relaxing experience and massage have lot of other benefits for you.
  • Volcanic Stone Treatments. If you have really sore muscles, back pains etc, you'll feel great after this treatment. Volcanic stones are heated with water and covered with essential oils and place over specific parts of the body. I love having this treatment for my legs since it releases a lot of tension and fatigue.
  • Facials. Spa's usually have an extensive "menu" for facials. Have your skin examined first and choose which one is best suited for your skin type. The treatment will usually consist of cleansing, exfoliation, mask, moisturizing, massage and some would also include removing your blackheads and whiteheads.
  • Body Scrub. Want to have glowing skin, then try having a body scrub so your dead skin cells will be exfoliated and it would also improve your blood circulation. Body scrubs usually use a lot of ingredients but the most common is sugar and salt. Your body will be scrubbed with exfoliating ingredients while you are lying down and you will be covered with a towel. Then you will be rinsed and they will apply a moisturizer on you.
  • Body Wrap. If you don't mind being wrapped for sometime, then try having a body wrap treatment. It starts with a light exfoliation, then a body mask will be applied by massaging it into your skin, then you will be wrapped tightly so you would sweat out your skin's impurities. Body wraps are given to detoxify your skin. After around 20 minutes of being wrapped you will then be rinsed, then moisturizers will be applied.
These are the most common treatments in spa's. Take your pick, indulge yourself. These would also make perfect gifts for your mom, your wife, or you can make it a bonding session with friends too.

Have you ever experienced receiving prank and anonymous calls? I did. A few years back I had a regular prank caller who would take pleasure in calling me and would just do some heavy breathing. I was really annoyed particularly since he would always call between 2 am and 4 am. Just to get rid of him, I had to change my mobile number.

I was just so frustrated at not being able to know who that person is and I kept wishing I could just
trace them! I really wished I could do that but that service has yet to be available here in the Philippines but in US and Canada, www.tracenumber.com has a search database that includes millions of cell numbers and landline telephones within the United States. They use the reverse directory lookups (search records come from public databases and directories), their service is free and confidential.

So if you are living in US or Canada and someone is bothering you with annoying anonymous phone calls, tracing their identity is the next step to make them stop.

I've been using the good old feedjit widgets in my other sites to check out my live traffic as well as feature popular content. I know that a lot of bloggers are also using similar widgets and it does help in getting more readers.

Though feedjit widgets serves its purpose at times I just wish I could customize these widgets to best suit my blog theme and also bloggers are limited to showing just the live traffic feed, live traffic map, live recommended reading, and live page popularity.

Then I stumbled upon Wowzio and they did gave me what I needed. Wowzio beta is a free widget building service, they only require bloggers to keep the 'Grab this Widget' and the 'by Wowzio' attribution links, found at the bottom of the widget you created. I like being able to customize the look and feel of your widget to match your template and they also have the the Auto-Fit feature that sizesthe widgets to the size of its container.

Site owners also have different widget options. If you have a photo blog or just a site with lots of attractive photos, you can use the slideshow, panoramic slideshow and photo gallery to help you showcase your blog images. You can live activity and feed content widget to highlight your posts and they also have the tag cloud widget.

Have multiple blogs? You can actually integrate 15 feeds in each widget you create. This is really great so you can one widget for all you blogs. :) Building and widget installation is so easy as long as your blog is javascript enabled you'll have no worries.

Do try it out..

Here's the third installment of my Stain Removal Tips series of posts. This time it would be about how to remove Ketchup, Mayonnaise and Soft Drinks Stains.

My first post in this series was on removing beer, chocolate and coffee stains. While the second part was on tips on what to do with oil, fresh fruits and ice cream stains.

  • Ketchup Stains
  1. Remove as much of the excess ketchup as possible from the fabric.
  2. Run cold water through the back of the stain as quickly as possible. This will force the stain back out through the fabric.
  3. Rub a liquid detergent into the stained portion of the fabric. Work it in gently.
  4. If the garment is white, or you have tested it for colorfastness, apply a mild bleaching agent like hydrogen peroxide or white vinegar with a sponge. You can also use lemon juice on white fabrics. Rinse well.
  5. Repeat with detergent followed by mild bleaching agent until the stain no longer appears.
  6. Apply a stain remover stick, gel, or spray and allow it to sit for at least 5 minutes.
  7. Launder with detergent. Before drying double check the stain.
  8. If the stain remains, rub detergent into the stain and soak in warm water for 30 minutes. Rinse well.
  9. If the stain remains, apply stain remover stick, gel, or spray and launder according to directions.
  • Mayonnaise Stains
  1. Remove as much excess mayo as possible with a dull knife or spoon.
  2. Apply a stain remover stick, gel, or spray and let stand for several minutes to allow it to go completely through the fabric.
  3. Use liquid detergent to rub through the stained fabric.
  4. Allow the garment to sit for 3-5 minutes.
  5. Wash in the hottest water safe for the fabric. Check clothing tags to determine what temperature the clothing can be washed in.
  • Soft drinks Stains
  1. If the stain is fresh, try to blot up as much of the soft drink stain as you can with a clean cloth.
  2. Soak the soft drink stain with cold water. If the stain is dried, you'll need to soak with liquid detergent until the stain loosens.
  3. Rub liquid detergent into the soft drink stain and let it stand for a few minutes.
  4. Wash the clothing in the hottest water recommended for the fabric.
  5. If traces of the coffee stain remain, apply a stain remover stick, gel, or spray and let stand for 5 minutes.
  6. Wash according to clothing directions.
