I've been busy for the past few weeks mainly because I have loads of things to do at home and I'm starting to sort out things we'll be bringing with us when we move. Another reason is I was busy tweaking and researching my new site, CelebrityAdsOnline.

This is my first attempt at celebrity blogging but I wanted it to be a little different. I see a lot of celebrity news and gossip blogs, so I decided on featuring a different content - celebrity tv ads. I have a thing for commercials and my brother and I had fun searching for cool and unique ads online. It's fascinating, interesting and not a pain to load since most tvc's are just short.

I decided to feature Asian( Korean, Taiwanese, Japanese, Singaporean, Chinese, etc) celebrities for the reason that I see lots of Holywood celebrity sites on the blogosphere, and there are a lot of beautiful faces and talents among Asian celebs and moreso because I am Asian too :).

The blog featured celebrity profiles, photo galleries, and featured tv ads. Here's the screenshot..

Please do check out CelebrityAdsOnline. Feel free to leave me a comment, suggestion or if you want to exchange links, leave your tracks on my shoutbox.

Here's some nutritious foods that should form part of your diet. It can actually help you maintain a healthy weight. But keep in mind that there are also other factors that could influence your weight loss efforts. Even if you are on a healthy diet, you still need to be active and everything should be balanced.
  • DAIRY - more and more research are now linking a diet rich in dairy products to healthy weight management. It is believed that calcium in milk, yogurt and cheese plays a key role in terms of this effect. It is important to note that many cheeses have a high fat content and that excess consumption may actually lead to weight gain. With research still ongoing, it is safer to recommend fat-free and low fat milk and yogurt in terms of weight loss.
  • HIGH FIBER FOODS - fruits, vegetables and whole grains is associated with lower body fat stores according to a research by the University of Texas. Another research also indicates that teenage girls who eat a high fiber cereal for breakfast are more likely to maintain a healthy body mass index over a period of ten years.
  • JUICY FOODS - fruits and vegetables with high water content helps to fill you up, so as a result you eat less throughout the day. Watermelon, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, mushrooms, grapefruit, and cantaloupe are among these juicy foods.
  • ALMONDS - recent research shows that these nuts are a good source of healthy fats, and may enhance the feeling of fullness. But like all nuts, almonds have a high energy value, so you should also limit your intake.
  • SPICY FOODS - when one eats spicy food, it leads to a process called thermogenesis - heat generation. This process burns more calories, which can help out in keeping out unwanted fats. Black pepper seems to stimulate metabolism, ginger has thermogenic properties and mixed spices have a positive impact on metabolism.
  • HONEY - an excellent home remedy for obesity. It mobilizes the extra deposited fat in the body allowing it to be utilized as energy for normal functions.
  • PROTEIN - lean protein can slightly up your metabolism after ingestion, so be sure to include some type with every meal. Good sources include chicken breast, canned light tuna, wild salmon, egg whites, crab, shrimp, tilapia, turkey breast, tofu, lean red meat, low fat dairy, beans and lentils.
  • GINGER - contains no fat or sugar and can be added to foods to heighten flavor without added calories. Chew a thin slice of fresh ginger root before meals or grate a little ginger, mix with some lemon juice and salt and eat a pinch or two.

Saving money is not as simple as a lot of people think. From my experience it requires determination and creativity to make it. Almost all things now are expensive so its doubly hard for most moms to achieve a healthy savings account balance.

Here's some creative ways of saving money I've learned from other moms:
  • When you are in grocery, buy only what is necessary. This is very difficult to do but a friend of mine suggest going to grocery with a ready list to avoid getting stuff you don't actually need.
  • If you have extra time then do some part time work or start a business. This worked for me. I turned my jewelry making hobby into a business and the income from that was a big boost for my savings.
  • Little things can actually add up to big things. You might want to control your daily Starbucks latte and make it just once a week. If you regularly have lunch in fast foods or office cafeterias then try packing your own lunch! This could save you a lot and you also can make a healthier food choice if you make your own lunch.
  • Regulate your use of utilities like electricity, water, telephone, internet.. Be creative in how you can save your daily consumption.
  • Determine a reasonable spending budget before you set a savings amount goal. If you actually spend less than your budget then add that amount to your savings instead of going shopping.
  • Make a firm commitment to save a set amount each payday. That way it is easier to reach your saving goals. Be diligent and patient, it will take sometime for your savings to grow.
  • Live below your means. It does not mean you have to live like a pauper, you just need to lessen those expenses. Example if you want to buy a BMW there are less expensive alternatives to that right? Or if you are taking a three week holiday, why not shorten it to just 10 days or two weeks?
  • Choose a savings account that would cater or fit your needs. There are local banks and there are also online savings accounts or certificate of deposit (CD) and these could help you out in achieving your saving goals.

Weddings can be hectic, stressful and a lot of hard work is required to pull it off. Hiring a wedding coordinator is an enormous help, but soon-to-be brides still can't help but work on her wedding. Your wedding day may be one of the few times in your life when you are the true center of attention. So it's important to look your best.

When I got married, I was quite lucky since I have several cousins who are in the "wedding business", so I got a lot of help and didn't have much to stress about. I was then able to concentrate on making myself presentable, I mean passably beautiful ( :P hehe this is me trying to be modest).

If given the chance to hold a wedding again, I'll want to create a beauty regimen where I wouldn't just be passably beautiful but radiant. A couple of visits to the spa, like Kauai Spa would be pure bliss if you want your skin to look clear and radiant.

If you're penny pinching you can have a relaxing spa at home, with some candles, bubble bath, gels on your bathtub, with a glass of wine and some soothing music. But if you have money to spare , then treat yourself and avail of spa packages like Kauai weddings have the most extensive services which you can make use of on a half day or full day service of your wedding party or just yourself.

Make-up services, facials, waxing, manicure and pedicure, and more skin care treatments are also available in Kauai day spa. This can be a wonderful treat not just for yourself but for your wedding attendants too. Visiting a spa is a wonderful way to de-stress, relax and unwind. A perfect getaway to achieve that radiant bride look you want for your wedding day.

I've had a great week and I missed blogging.. I did mention I had a lot of visitors this past week and I took a bit of break from blogging to spend some time with my Mama and my sister. They were here for my sister's graduation from UP Open University Graduate School. So we had a reason to celebrate. Saturday was her graduation and that evening we went to Tagaytay and had a sumptuous dinner at Leslie's. I'll blog about that sometime, but this post is about our malling trip to Mall of Asia.

I've been there several times but Ma and my cousin haven't been there so we decided to give them the grand tour :). SM Mall of Asia is the largest shopping mall in the Philippines and is the third largest shopping mall in the world in terms of gross leaseable area. It is owned and operated by SM Prime Holdings and most Pinoys refer to it as MoA.

I have several photos here, though most are taken from the back part and at the Esplanade area. I find this part interesting and I love spending time here doing one of my favorite spectator sport - people watching. These were taken with my Motorola phone so it's a bit grainy :P.

There are always lots of people around the bay area. It also has a neat row of "palutuan" seafoods restaurants with some featuring bands. Strolling along the bay and the sea breeze will surely make everyone hungry, so its no surprise that the restaurants here are always jam packed.

After a few minutes of strolling, we headed back to the main building and guess who we saw? GMA. As in Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, the President of the Philippines. My Ma even got to shake her hand. Geez, she's so tiny in person and looks a lot younger. It's just a pity I wasn't able to take a photo :(.

We were really starving after about two hours of walking, so we headed over to our favorite pizza place, Sbarro. Overall, Ma said it was a great malling experience though she says next time she'll probably rent a wheelchair. :)

I'm a bit stressed now. I have a lot of family and visitors in the house right now. Not that I don't like having them around. I love having company. I love throwing parties, but sometimes things could get hectic and some things just happen to disrupt some schedules.

If things get too tiring and I'm starting to get really stressed out, these 3 simple steps to relaxation works wonders for me..

Step 1: Find Your Reminder

Choose a method of how you are going to remind and inspire yourself to go to your special destination or complete a task.

Step 2: Visualize Your Tranquil Destination

Close your eyes and picture yourself there with as much detail as you can.

Step 3: E Emotionalize

Spend between 1 to 3 minutes approximately every hour you are awake just feeling what it is like to be there.

Read On. I find this tidbit interesting.. If you compute your body's monetary value depending on the value of your bodies composition.

A great number of people have spent a great deal of human and financial resources calculating the composition of, prior to the decomposition of, and the worth, or worthlessness of, the human body.

When we total the monetary value of the elements in our bodies and the value of the average person's skin, we arrive at a net worth of $4.50!
This value is, however, subject to change, due to stock market fluctuations. Since the studies leading to this conclusion were conducted by the U.S. and by Japan respectively, it might be wise to consult the New York Stock Exchange and the Nikkei Index before deciding when to sell!
The U.S. Bureau of Chemistry and Soils invested many a hard-earned tax dollar in calculating the chemical and mineral composition of the human body, which breaks down as follows:

  • 65% Oxygen

  • 18% Carbon

  • 10% Hydrogen

  • 3% Nitrogen

  • 1.5% Calcium

  • 1% Phosphorous

  • 0.35% Potassium

  • 0.25% Sulfur

  • 0.15% Sodium

  • 0.15% Chlorine

  • 0.05% Magnesium

  • 0.0004% Iron

  • 0.00004% Iodine

  • Additionally, it was discovered that our bodies contain trace quantities of fluorine, silicon, manganese, zinc, copper, aluminum, and arsenic. Together, all of the above amounts to less than one dollar!
Our most valuable asset is our skin, which the Japanese invested their time and money in measuring. The method the Imperial State Institute for Nutrition at Tokyo developed for measuring the amount of a person's skin is to take a naked person, and to apply a strong, thin paper to every surface of his body. After the paper dries, they carefully remove it, cut it into small pieces, and painstakingly total the person's measurements. Cut and dried, the average person is the proud owner of fourteen to eighteen square feet of skin, with the variables in this figure being height, weight, and breast size. Basing the skin's value on the selling price of cowhide, which is approximately $.25 per square foot, the value of an average person's skin is about $3.50.

More often than not, homemakers tend to overlook decorating or even including their windows when fix their house. However, there are a lot of different options for you if you still want to make your windows a part of your decorating scheme.

One option that I particularly like are window blinds like wood blinds. Blinds are really great if your top priority is adding privacy to your bedroom or any other room. Among window blinds you can actually have different varieties to choose from depending on your needs.

For family or living areas or in home offices I prefer vertical blinds since it allows more light in and they have the nice feature of being able to close completely closed or slated slightly or opened all the way allowing you to control the light streaming inside the room. Your budget should be considered too.

If you want to have a wooden finish look, but don't want real wood blinds or simply find real wood expensive, the market offers a variety of faux wood blinds is a good option as it is less expensive that wood blinds. Some people don't like blinds because its takes time to clean or it will not go with the total look of your room, consider also using sliding panels like a woven wood sliding panel which are great for large windows, patio doors or they can even make great room dividers.

My mama is coming to visit us next week and would stay with us for a couple of days so I've postponed getting her a Mother's Day gift and would just give it to her in person.

I appreciate my Ma so much now since I became a parent myself. She is a great mom and though that cannot be repaid with material things, I'd still want to see her smile when I give her something she would like and appreciate.

Ma is an avid gardener, so at first I consider giving her a nice, new plant but that would be hard to bring back home. She loves bags and shoes. That is an understatement. She's so into bags and shoes that she has several closets chock full of them so I ruled that out as a gift option. Ma loves jewelry. She has lots of earring and rings sets but not much on gold bracelets and necklaces.

I've surfed online to get myself acquainted with the latest designs and how to choose gold jewelry. Of course, since this is for Ma, I want to get my money's worth and find the one that is truly perfect for her. First advice when it comes to buying gold jewelry whether in store or online, go and purchase from reputable jewelry store. Second, get yourself familiar with karats quality marks. Gold is often mixed with other metals to make it more durable. The karat would tell you the percentage of gold is actually in there.

24K gold is pure gold, which is generally not practical for wearing, as it is too soft; 18K gold is 75 percent gold; 12K gold is 50 percent gold; 10K gold is 41.7 percent gold.

Now that I've acquainted myself with the basics, I'm now concentrating on the latest designs available. I'm amazed at the variety of gold chains, gold rings, necklaces, bracelets available. I still have a few more days so choosing the best would be a breeze.

I've been out of town for most of last week and when I came back last Friday I had my attack of allergic rhinitis so I was unable to check my blogs and update. Just checked this last night and I saw in one blog I hopped on that Google have recently released their page rankings.

I decided to check all my blogs and yahoo! I was expecting this blog to have a page ranking of 0, but to my surprise it has a PR 3. It's down by just 1 point, hahaha after I went crazy with reviews last month I thought I'd loose all the PR.

My new blog, Pinaywifespeaks, now has a PR 3 rank. My other two blogs, Laugh Out Loud and Desserthaven both has a PR 2 rank.

Now, that is a treat! Enough to motivate me :) ! Thanks Google!

What is a credit card? It is a card issued by a bank, financial institutions, retail establishments, which allows the holder to make purchases of goods and services on credit. Credit cards are now fast becoming one of the most used modes of payments. With the advent of the internet and online buying and selling having a credit card would turn out to be very valuable.

How do we apply for a credit card? There are now countless types of credit cards to choose from. There are several things as well you have to consider when choosing which card you want to apply for. First, do some research on the different types of credit card available for you, which one you are most likely to choose and compare offers and features from different companies.

Second, think of what you're needs are and your paying capacity. If you're a little tight on the budget each month then best consider a card with low monthly interest if you'll just be paying the minimum.

Third, compare their charges, features and other offers like credit limits, interest free days, payment plans, fixed or variable interest rates, cash advance and balance transfer rates, airline miles and so on.

Fourth, verify if the card you're applying for is acceptable locally or internationally. If you travel overseas, then best to get the one that is accepted in other countries.

When you have your card, strive to maintain a good credit history. This will definitely be good for you and would provide ease in applying for more cards or loans. But for those with less than perfect credit history, don't despair, issuers now have credit card offers fair credit to give you the chance to rebuild your credit history with a low interest credit card, balance transfers and other options.

I've been on a short blogging hiatus since last week and now I'm back and to start it off, let me greet all mommies, HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

I feel so blessed now that I am a mother and being a mother may be tiring at times, but then it is surely the most rewarding, for in return you get the love and affection of your children.

This is also for my mama. Thank you, Ma for taking good care of us, for always being there whenever we are in need (and we don't even need to ask <3), for being our pillar of strength, for always being at Pa's side, for your generosity and selflessness, for being the bonding force in keeping our family together, for your endless love and sacrifices for us, you children. It may never be enough, but I'd like to say Thank You and we love you..

There is something about mailboxes that I find charmingly appealing. Its probably because in this day and age where communication is usually done through cellphones, email, chatting, video conferencing and other high-tech and high-speed communication tools, it's really touching to receive a well-written and heartwarming letter in our mailbox.

I've noticed some really nice mail boxes online and you can even choose among different varieties available. Some say mailboxes display your interior decorating skills outside of your home. Among the wide variety of choices are free-standing or wall mounted mail boxes . For free-standing varieties there are traditional post style or the column style mailbox.

Several factors to consider when choosing the right mailbox. One is the available space. Colors should also complement the color of your house. Choose one that shows your personality. Check online sites like mailboxexchange for available styles.

Once you already have it, landscaping the area around it would be a great way to personalize your mail box area. Plant something around your mailbox that complements your existing landscape design. Flowering plants are also a nice touch but make sure to choose the ones that bloom at different times. Make sure that the plant and flower size is proportionate to the size of the mailbox. You wouldn't want one that's too small or too large and therefore crowding your mailbox. You may also opt to plant ornamental grass around the mailbox for easy maintenance.

I hate stains. On clothes, furniture.. I think most people do and I can get really frustrated just trying to remove them. I wrote a post a week ago that I was on the verge of tearing my hair out because of the stains I found on my bro's clothes.

That spurred me to look for ways and means to take the stress out of removing stains. This would be a series of post since after some research I learned that there are actually different ways to remove stains depending on what stained the cloth.

    • BEER STAINS

    1. Rinse the beer stain thoroughly from the back of the clothing with cold water.

    2. Use a liquid detergent mixed with cold water and pour onto the beer stain. Allow the detergent to stand on the alcohol stain for at least 5 minutes.

    3. Rinse the stained area thoroughly.

    4. If the beer stain is really set in, you can try blotting the stained area with a 1 part vinegar/2 parts water mixture. Vinegar will bleach clothing though, so you'll want to rinse this out immediately and thoroughly with warm water.

    5. Wash according to the clothing directions.
    • CHOCOLATE STAINS

    1. Remove as much chocolate as possible with a dull knife or spoon.

    2. Rinse the stain from the back thoroughly with cold water.

    3. Rub liquid detergent on the stain and allow it to stand for at least 5 minutes.

    4. Soak the stain in cold water for 10-15 minutes or until the stain becomes more loosened. Every three to five minutes, rub the stained area.

    5. Rinse thoroughly.

    6. Repeat until no more chocolate stain can be removed.

    7. If an oily stain remains, add a stain remover stick, gel, or spray. Wash normally.
    • COFFEE STAINS
    1. Rinse the coffee stain thoroughly from the back of the clothing with cold water. Try to rinse out as much of the stain as you can.

    2. Use a liquid detergent and rub gently into the coffee stain. Allow the detergent to stand on the coffee stain for at least 5 minutes. If the stain is old or dry, rub the coffee stain with detergent, and allow to soak in cold water for 30 minutes.

    3. Rinse the stained area thoroughly.

    4. If traces of the coffee stain remain, rub liquid laundry detergent into the coffee stain and soak in warm water for 10-15 minutes.

    5. If traces of the coffee stain remain, apply a stain remover stick, gel, or spray and let stand for 5 minutes.

    6. Wash according to clothing directions.
